If you take Star Trek teleporters, they disassemble you and convert you into a "matter stream" which can pass through solid objects (and thus is probably not matter in the conventional sense, or is transmitted via some other means).
The atoms are then reassembled at the other end.
Chemically and physically you would be, theoretically, identical.
If you have a soul, where does it exist? In the brain? In the heart? Generally as a life force which animates your body?
The thought occurs that when your body is disassembled for teleportation, there is nowhere for your soul to exist in relation to your body, which has ceased to exist at that point, and so you would die.
Based on this, I would be somewhat wary.
