Are Hyperglides -Worth It- ?

Sigh..............

Begrudgingly...  Yes...

The accuracy of the cut is fantastic, and their height profile is well chosen..

The Price is well......... reflective of that slippery prowess..

I am angry at how expensive they are $10...ffffffffkkkkkk..  But From an engineering stand point.. They are excellent and live up to the hype..

Screw you Hyperglide.. I h8 youuuuu

I didn't know that those existed.
Too bad they are so expensive.

I might be interested if my G5 or G502 feet ever fully fell off, but so far so good.

Slightly related, I just washed my mousepad (Glorious XL) after roughly 6 months of use and I've noticed a dramatic improvement in mouse movement.

I'm not even sure how or why, but darn are they good.

I believe Convex punching is their secret sauce..

__ Most other feet are punched on a flat-punch, so the feet come out flat.

____ the Hyperglides are not flat, they are convex, a definite bowling-out on the glide-side

yeah. just that I thought other feet were also made with rounded edges... or at least they claim so.

Whenever you punch something, the edges are technically round, so they can claim whatever they want to claim..

This is true. Someone punched me once and my face edge became rounded. Confirmed!

Seriously though, $10 doesn't seem like a bad price for what you're getting in return. Small price to pay for a smooth gliding mouse

I use a soft-bristle tooth brush and some mild detergent when I clean the mouse pad..

Can be cut with quality sharp scissors, edges smoothed with a single edged razor blade.  Also, UHMW has a very low coefficient of friction, and has 15 times the abrasion resistance of carbon steel, both attributes it trumps teflon.

less friction than teflon?
I'd love to try this if it'd work as well on textile/cloth pads.

The biggest issue would be getting the cut edges smooth enough to not snag, but if you cut ovals/circles and are careful with a sharp utility/razor knife, it shouldn't be to much of an issue.  But for use on cloth/other soft pads, I doubt there would be much difference.  Have to remember coefficient of friction is dependent on many varaibles including but not limited to pressure applied against the two surfaces (especially so in soft pads due to deformation of the surface), surface finish (more so on hard pads), material of both surfaces, along with others that aren't coming to mind right now.  With that said, most soft pads I have seen are "control" pads, which essentially means the naturally have more friction so the mouse stops quicker and easier.  Where UHMW really will shine is on hard pads including hard plastics, and metals.  Essentially if one material has a significantly higher CoF, the other will make much less difference than if they are close to each other.

yeah that makes sense... but I do prefer the feel of cloth for more ergonomic reasons rather than performance, so anything to make static friction lower/closer to a hard pad would be great for me :p
wonder if it'd be possible to have them cut like hyperglide...

$10 mouse feet seems... excessive. I'm sure you could buy the material and cut it yourself somehow.

The last time I tried hyperglide was for the mx510/518v1,  that _version_ of the hyperglide is on the -thinner- side. and so did not make that big a difference.

The hyperglide I got this time is the WMO ones and G400 ones..  In this case, they are much thicker, and better performing than all other feet i've tried (hotline/ tiger).

You can not cut the material to this shape without some sort of manual polishing process.

It's not just the outer edge shape which makes the hyperglides smooth, It's this bowl shape contour in the z-axis from the convex punching.

I also don't see virgin teflon sheets on ebay.

The ones from China, that would make this project "within a reasonable budget" are mechanical grade teflon..  It is smooth for the most part, but it's harder and not as soft as virgin grade teflon.

It may be posssssible to get to this shape and quality on your own,  But not without a labor input well exceeding $10..

No, those are for wmo..

Hyperglide doesn't make a set for g100 or 100s.

Coz logitech cheap bastards!

Possibly they weren't expecting to sell that many ?

So they had to cut every possible corner ?

I don't see any larger filter capacitors like on the other more expensive mice.

And They didn't use the two piece scroll wheel design which is iconic of logitech mice.

I see what u did there... cut.. every.. possibru.. corner.. of them glidez.

Apparently they didn't expect this mouse to get used? I mean.. mice are useless without proper glidez.

Using it for the first week felt like pushing a pebble. It's now only partially worn in, but still doesn't glide as well as Munch's modded out g502 with aftermarket feet. :(

With em new Logitech mice with their feet.. better rip it off and cover the whole bottom in one massive piece of glidez (leave room for them sensor though).

It seems every new Logitech keeps "hanging" on mats occasionally (g100s, g303, g502). I've read it on hardforum and oc as well.

big feet feel meh to me, I prefer smaller ones a la MS3.0 or even MX518 (tiny). :p

only mx518 v1 had the small ones, the 518 v2 haz the big ones like the g400.

Oh yeah I had that mouse... "feet" (you could barely call it that) kept coming off. It was too small.
