I think the bigger price hike is going to be upgrading your 1080p monitor or TV to a 4K one.
Ugh I am not looking forward to that.
And so far I'd say there's no reason for me to go from 1080p to 4K.
Maybe when the TV's and harddrives are cheaper (if that'll ever happen)
Well.... all the tvs with the New 4k bluray features, HDR, wide gamut, seem to huddle around $2000-3000..
That's not so bad, considering it's gonna last 5-10 years...
But harddrives you're buying every year..
So instead of buying
2 harddrives every year..
I have to now buy
8 harddrives every year..
That's alot of damn drives.. (EVERY YEAR)
So, over the course of 10 years.. I have to spend $5600 on drives...

So... lets do the break down..
$2500 TV
$600 Graphics card (HEVC requires it)
$5600 Harddrives (240 TeraBytes)
~3000 movies over 10 Years..
$2.9 per movie.. ALMOST $3..
Sigh.....................................................
