Those of you in SF - ever go to Noisebridge?
« on: Sun, 22 May 2016, 02:26:43 »
I started going a couple weeks back and it was so much better than I was expecting. Really cool environment, really cool space, and really cool people. Planning on heading in at least once next week as I just received a board with a bunch of burnt solder pads that I'm not sure how to fix and I'm sure someone there will be able to help me.

Anyone have any opinions about the space?

I live literally around the corner and haven't been in years. I was super excited about it, since having an awesome workspace available when I live in a 750sqft loft would be amazing. Trouble was that everything I ever wanted to use was broken, and everytime I went to try and get some help with a technical problem, there wasn't anyone with time or expertise to help me. But I got to spend a lot of time listening to random political rants and helping others with their questions. So in the end, if I needed to get something done, noisebridge wasn't the place for me to do it.

Granted, if I really wanted it to be something else, I could pay up, join the decision making groups, and help make it a better place. So the problem is mine as well. But I think a place run by, and with the ideals of, a bunch of crypto-anarchists will always funamentally be broken.

Feel free to PM me with when you're planning on going and if I'm free, I could me you there and bring my hot-air solder station that makes reworking a little easier.

That's unfortunate, maybe I just got lucky? I will say that most of the tools I see around these days are not broken  :thumb:

I really appreciate the offer, I might take you up on that. I think I'm going to need to run 15 or so jumper wires on this board unfortunately so I could use any sort of help lol
