Was casually watching the opening ceremonies...was totally flabbergasted by all the great looking girls!

Is it just me? Are they really that hot? Or am I getting old and any young thing is looking especially juicy?

Does anyone actually give a **** though? Honestly, is a single person here really into the Olympics? I feel like all the hype and national pride that was a thing through the '80s and '90s is long dead and gone and no one really cares anymore. It's just a thing that happens every 4 years now that is mildly distracting.

Apathy is a common attitude these days, it has to do with desensitization resultant of the extra-natural stimulus of one's reward circuitry..

Given what we know about N-turtle's lifestyle choices,  it seems inevitable..  hahahaha

Keep in mind, I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I am merely saying, be mindful of WHY you feel that way, as the body and all subsequent emotions are built upon a Mechanical system.

Is it just me? Are they really that hot? Or am I getting old and any young thing is looking especially juicy?

I am old, too, and not watching the Games, but I have always thought that fit athletic women were more attractive than stupid-looking slut-bunnies who are all lips and tits and staggering around in high heels.

"However, even though I was born in the Mesozoic, I do know what anyone who wants to reach out to young people should say: Billionaires took your money. They took your chance to buy a home. They took your chance at a good education. They stole your opportunities. Billionaires took the things you want in life. If you really want those things, you have to take them back.
That's the message. That's the whole message. Say that every day, not just to reach America's frustrated young white men, but people of every age, race, and gender.
Late-stage capitalism is a wealth-concentration engine, focused on vacuuming up every dollar and putting it in as few hands as possible. Republicans are helping that vacuum suck.
How does a tiny fraction of the population get away with this? They do it by dividing the other 99% of Americans against themselves."

This is an occupational specialization..  Not different from professional sports..

These girls provide different services and functions in society..

One should not demean another simply because of their career disposition..

It's not that at all. I feel like the patriotism and commendatory the Olympics used to stand for is gone now. You used to hear every home going down the block watching the Olympics in the evening, cheering like it was the Super Bowl. People would gather in bars and wear Olympic shirts. It was an event. Now everyone seems jaded and disinterested, as if the recent insurance in post-nationalism has turned us into a nation of bitter uncaring grumps.

All of that may very well be the case,  but I'm not disputing what has happened.

I'm trying to convey why this is happening..

The brain has but One Main Ruler for motivation..

It deliberates everything through this pipeline..

After a strong memory is form resultant of a certain-positive-event,  the entire system weighs ALL other Future TO-DOs  against that knowledge it has acquired.

So, if your life is already filled with Video Games, Pretty Internet Girls, Cheap Liquor, Recreational Adulterants..

Then, something such as a Sports event could certainly seem Mundane..    Because the Electro-Chemical Programming in your brain says..  I can be Happier doing OTHER things..

I'm trying to talk about a broad issue here and you always make it personal, I dunno why you do that. Is it like a defense mechanism, or some odd way to try and relate to me on a human level?

mm... the personal touch i suppose is what I know of the person i am talking to.

But there is the broader application of my explanation which would cover your observation of apathy.

Yeah, they hit the wall and disintegrate. Women who care about fitness break through the wall, as they have a solid core and aren't just glued together plastic bits.

Swimming and water polo paid for my college career  Division 1A
I know 2 of the coaches in this years olympics, I have lotta history.
Never really made friends with girl divers...not a personality type I clicked with.
But they sure look good now, in Rio.
Best looking television in YEARS.

Does anyone actually give a **** though? Honestly, is a single person here really into the Olympics? I feel like all the hype and national pride that was a thing through the '80s and '90s is long dead and gone and no one really cares anymore. It's just a thing that happens every 4 years now that is mildly distracting.

There are definitely some events I'm really into. I always watch the footy games, mens and womens. I love the sport and watch it every chance I get, and the international game is always a treat. Same goes for basketball. Love the **** out of the sport and watch it frequently at every level.

My aunt got me into watching gymnastics as a kid, and I still really enjoy it. It's absolutely insane the amount of body control and physical power those people have. Truly awesome.

Most of the other stuff I watch casually, but I still find myself getting really into things I wouldn't expect. I guess I just enjoy watching competitions of all kinds, really. Especially when things are close I end up getting pretty hyped out of nowhere. Field Hockey is another one that is really fun to watch. And Handball... lol a lot of things, honestly.

But I agree with you in the general sense. I think if you're someone who loves sports, you're likely to be into it. I feel like when I was younger even the families who would never turn on a baseball game were hugely into anything USA had a chance at winning, but that level of enthusiasm isn't nearly as common anymore.
