Logitech Romer-G switches Vs Cherry MX Brown...

Has anybody tried Logitech's Romer-G switches?
How do they compare in performance/feel to the CHERRY MX Brown switches for gaming/typing?
Does anybody here own a G810?

I use a g410 at home since it's mostly for gaming and I like the switches.  They're comparable to Browns, but the tactile bump is at the very top and they have a shorter, dampened travel.

If I had to choose between romer-G and browns, I'd pick the Romer-G every single time.

Someday I'll get Orange Alps in a TKL or similar board that I like for gaming.  Until then, it's Romer-G.

I have a G910 that I received for my birthday.  I'm no longer using it, and actively trying to sell it.  It's just... too much.  The Romer-G switches are OK, but I'll take Browns every time.  And having to deal with the Logitech control panel for it- I suppose it's as simple as they could make it with the functionality included.  But if you aren't planning to use that functionality, having to deal with it is a bit much, IMO.

My buddy has one and I did not care for it, but he loves it. The other issue is zero aftermarket cap support. No way to customize the board, if that floats your boat.

I was able to try those switches at a store a few days ago. I think the browns are more defined.
I did not care for the Romer-G switch but it is a personal choice.

Romer G looks very well engineered..


Buuuuuhhhhh.. imho  Cherry MX blue is the Best engineered switch on the market.

It has the Least fricative contact surface within the sliding mechanism, AND the greatest Perceived tactile feedback.

I've just switched over to the G810 and after about a month I can honestly say that I like it a lot.  They feel great because I don't have to press down on the keys very hard at all to have them actuate.  In this sense, they're kind of like a Cherry MX Red switch.  But you still kind of get a tactile bump on the keys like a Cherry MX Brown switch.  However, not while pressing them down but rather on the way up after the keys have actuated.  The "mushy" feeling that people notice which I did too at the beginning was happening because I was pressing down on the keys too hard and bottoming out with too much force.  You soon learn not to bottom out and kind of just lightly type along which makes the switch feel quite fast indeed.  Like how MX Red kind of feel because they completely linear.  I later bought the G610 with Cherry MX Brown switches and right away I noticed a major difference.  In fact the MX Browns felt almost uncomfortable to type on.  I got used to not having to press down so hard on the keys that I wasn't hitting the actuation point on switch which caused a lot of typos.  I probably should have compared it to the G610 with Cherry MX Red switches, but I didn't.  I ended up returning the G610 and sticking with the G810 and the Romer-G switches.  I'm typing on them now while writing this post and kind feel that these Romer-Gs have ruined MX Browns and Blues for me which were my preferred switch of choice.  I probably could easily go back with some time getting re-acclimated to the Cherry MX switches but for now I kind of really dig the Romer-Gs.  I would recommend giving it a try but buying from Amazon.com so that you can return it after 30 days (maybe more than that) if you just can't get a handle on it.  It basically boils down to personal preference which for me just took a little time to really like them.

You may also like the Matias Quiet Clicks, they have shorter travel than the MX Browns, are more tactile, smoother, and are dampened like the Romer G but not as mushy.

I Wouldn'd describe Matias QC as smooth. They're as scratchy as Cherry MX but with a much stronger sharp tactile bump.

The only way I'd choose romer-g is if I had to choose between them and browns. I prefer rubber dome over both.

I disagree, they feel smoother to me. I also opened a few up and found that they are lubed.

Had a G810 for awhile - good for gaming, mediocre for typing. I'd buy a TKL version of it. Clean aesthetic, and Logitech's software works well (normal for them). G410 Atlas is too bulky with no benefit.

The oldest Romer-G boards have a notably worse switch feel.
