Glad you guys are all okay. In FL there are state laws about price gouging during emergencies; that's one reason why it's important for the state to make the declaration because all sorts of those protections go into place (gas, water, food, other supplies' prices all get frozen). I didn't buy anything special, just extras of what we normally use. Filled up existing containers with water, so didn't even have to spend money on that. My kids all play sports, and we have a massive collection of sports bottles and stuff. I've been complaining about having too many for years, but I was thankful for them yesterday.
Being halfway between downtown Orlando and the beach, we were worried. Thankfully the eye stayed offshore. Could have been much, much worse.
We had a ton of wind; my neighbor had an anemometer (sp?) and was hitting 70mph...couple of times came out of his hand. I always thought the little leash on those were ridiculous; guess that's why they have them!
