People in the western world largely have a negative view of anime for various reasons, one of them is that it overly sexualises women. In the TV shows, Motoko is only naked in a very small amount of scenes which are very personal and not really relevant to the story line. The suit she's wearing is so she can go invisible, and it's designed so it's obvious she isn't naked. Because we are only watching a 2 hour film and not having a TV show to get background on the characters, having her naked would be irrelevant and gratuitous.

I'm glad they are trying to keep loyal to the manga and they had one of the writers on the set to have a look at what they were doing.

I think it's going to be awesome.

I'm not sure. It does not really feel like Ghost in the Shell to me. Looks just like a live-action remake of the 1995 anime movie mixed with stuff from the Total Recall remake and the Robocop remake. Meh.

That robocop remake was awful...

The robo part was cool..   If they only removed most of the humans in that movie,  it would've been a much better movie.



They should've remade robocop 2..

Motoko Kusanagi is a Japanese name of a Japanese character with a storyline and culture set in Japan.

The anime has been totally whitewashed.

It is just as offensive as blackface.

Cant say Im impressed by the trailer. Theres key scene mimicry, tropey intro, a bad song and Batou looks..... ye...
ScarJo on the other hand, while I dont really mind who portrays full cyber Motoko, but she almost looks afraid in a few shots, and that is not the major =\
