not to make it political, but this is why I am not on the side of bringing in refugees.
How many refugees went on a killing spree in the USA?
Now you're introducing of statistical analysis into the dangers that lurk in everyday America. Please, that's not a reasonable method anymore. Demonizing immigrants and refugees is a classic political strategy, and it works quite well.
If you actually take a look at the numbers for homicide and mass shootings and such,
you will find that very very few of them were terrorist related. Of course, that fact does not generate as many headlines.
Indianapolis has over 100 murders a year and nearly all of these involve citizens and have nothing to do with refugees. Sometimes the gunshots have woken me up at night. The city has tens of thousands of refugees, and most of them are good citizens seeking a better life. The problems with violent crime in America are deeply systemic and need solving but they do not receive nearly as much attention as violence from refugees and immigrants.
But when a Muslim refugee from Africa or the Middle East commits a violent crime, it fits a narrative, gets lots of attention, and peaceful immigrants or even long-time US citizens with brown skin become political targets.
Are violent incidents with refugees a problem? Yes, it occurs. Is it the biggest problem? Far from it. Yet solving the biggest problems take a lot more effort and understanding and energy than just saying immigrants and refugees are bad because they are The Other and we should put the brakes on them.
