And I wont even be living in the ****ing house, my wife essentially just got a power boost for pron, netflix and facebook. The house I am moving into gets the ****ty old contract with the slow ass speeds.

FYI not divorce, working remotely for a couple years and wife no like outback Australia so getting another house for me to stay in.

that sucks man

i kinda know that feel though. i have adsl2+ at my place and use the internet pretty heavily, so it's painful. meanwhile my gf's parents have FTTP, but only use it for skype and youtube on their ipads...

complete waste of such a rare opportunity

It is ****ing ****, ay the roll out has never matched up to where I live. My old house in NSW was in this NBN blackspot as it fell into an obscure suburb where it was available down the road but there was no future plans for my area.

I guess the upside is, I will spend a fair bit of time here. But my computer will be in hillbilly central. May have to get a second computer.

if you had unlimited bandwidth allowance, i'd be running an old pc/laptop there as a torrent seedbox, which you could access with remote desktop and ftp and such

Gaming, theloading, videos etc. currently if one other person is using the wifi (can be just facebook) BF1 becomes laggy and not playable.

that doesn't sound like a bandwidth problem.. that sounds like a router or modem issue.

Unless the router has been ****ed from day one, I don't think so.

it's odd, though, because games use ~50-100 Megabyte PER HOUR..

I guess if ur roomy was constantly downloading music, thus eating up all the bandwidth, that's possible..

But if he's just browsing the internet,  doesn't sound right..

Did you setup QOS  in the router to prioritize game traffic ? ?

I had no clue what you are talking about so I thought I would do it, I mean if it helps, it helps. My box does not have QoS apparently, I looked thorough the routers menu and then googled it, Telstra boxes dont have it as a feature (I am sure I could get some generic firmware but I have like 2 weeks left here and then the line will be entirely mine) And I dont want to accidentally brick the box, or kill my internet.

I can't get NBN at home yet.

In fact, we can't even get it at work in the Melbourne CBD!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

in the past we've actually opted to fly someone from our sydney office down to a melbourne customer site with an external hdd because the time required to transfer a (pretty large) amount of data to this site was not feasible timewise and reliability-wise with the customer's internet connection.

it's a bit ridiculous

Shoot the critter and cook it, taste great with apple dumplings and sauce  :thumb: .

We are lucky to set up a Telstra Remote wireless which gives us direct speeds to head offices in Perth, Brisbane and Sydney.  No slow downs at all and this is before the NBN was even a concept let alone an actual decision to develop it.

In the 21st century you need a fast and reliable connection with your business otherwise there is no business at all and for those tossers who waste their connection speed on viewing Pron, far cheaper and better to go out there and pick some action up, it's for more enjoyable than sitting there like a sad sack watching other people having fun  8) .
