The Sentry case by Dr Zaber

Hey guys, I know I've been gone for awhile, but I recently found out about the Sentry Case by Dr. Zaber and fell in love with it. Figured you guys might be interested in it too.

It's a super tiny Mini-ITX pc that supports a full size GPU. I'm planning on using it as my main rig, as it's a total pain in the ass to bring my current computer to college and back twice a year. Plus I'll be able to bring this bad boy with me when I move to Japan after college.

It's currently being funded through indiegogo and a case can be picked up for $195 + shipping. Pretty pricey, but I think it's worth it (I've already ordered my black case).

So any of you guys interested in the case? Anyone got any interesting ideas for this puny form factor.

SFX is the reccomended, but they say you can also use SFXL, though it stops you from using one of the drive mounts.

You're also going to want to delid on the 7xxx series.. so...... gonna need that cool laboratory liquid pro

The creator already tried mounting an internal water cooler, though an external setup would be pretty awesome. Sadly if I'm gonna travel with it thats probably out of the question, though it would be dope for someone else to do.

According to the TDP I don't think I'll need to (though I might just for fun). The 7700 runs at 65W which is the recommended TDP for the CPU. Though if I end up switching to the 7700K I would definitely do it.

As long as you delid.. you won't have trouble cooling either the 6 series or 7 series with even single 120mm AIO water coolers..

Sexy case. Why PNY 1060 though? Better thermal compared to EVGA 1060's?

They seemed to have pretty similar reviews, and the PNY was a bit cheaper (and better looking IMO). Never used them before, do they have problems?

I think the 1080ti will run to hot. If I'm remembering correctly it had a TDP of like 250W. 150 are recommended for the case. If you get water cooling into the pc it would probably be fine though.

No, you buy the 1080 when the 1080ti comes out..

Oh my bad. Yeah that would be more feasible. I think the lowest TDP 1080  is 180W which would be way more manageable.

Ah gotcha. The case is still in production, so I haven't purchased any hardware yet, so I'm still looking around. PNY seems okay so far, but I've never had anything from them before.

This is my second year of transporting my PC by air, 3 times a year. I built inside the SG05, then SG08 and now Ncase M1. 4790K, all SSD, GTX 1070. For protection, i use a Pelican 1510 with padded dividers.

Personally, I think these HTPC style cases are pretty ****ty for air travel, period. Yes, the 1510 is an investment but it never breaks and is the absolute best. I wouldn't trade it for "transport handles" and a hasty clothes-lined $40 suitcase. Not when the rig costs $1500. Why those 3 cases? Because you need a shoebox style, sub 15L case to use the 1510. Why the 1510? Because it's literally standard carry on size everywhere.

LAN parties? Sure? Air travel where your precious pc is subject to bumps and knocks, being taken out and put onto a tray at security, and potentially handled by others when in the overhead bins? Yikes.

Yeah thats the biggest reason I wanted an even smaller case. Though I have to admit the Ncase m1 is pretty beautiful. It was my "runner up" case when deciding what to get. I'll have to check out the 1510. I've loved all my past pelican cases, but they are just huge. Would definitely be worth it to protect my pc though.
