Raspberry Pi 4 Soon
« on: Wed, 29 March 2017, 20:35:53 »
Computer World - 36% off Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Motherboard - Deal Alert

The 4 going to be yay or nay? I'd pick up a Chromebook or older Thinkpad before I picked up a Raspberry Pi 3 but um, maybe they just have a surplus of 3's?

I always think it would be cool to get one of these to mess around with. Maybe setup a vpn/ad blocker setup for my home network.

You can do that without a pi, lol.. but i guesssssssss it's technically more power efficient.. Make sure to check my sd card guide if you're going to get pi.

Well, you could buy something with a bit more power like an Odroid XU4 or Cubieboard4, they use close to the same amount of energy. You won't be able to install Arch Linux on it. You can install all kinds of OS's on the Pi. I might get one to make an alarm clock/HUD one of these days idk.

with this stuff, you want the one everyone else has..  because if you get the obscure board.. and run into a problem,  no one has a clue how to fix it..

Exactly. But for users like the ones that lurk on GH this is probably less of a problem. Lack of documentation is a powerful motivator either way

Learning Python is a 100% complete waste of time. No doubt about it
