So i purchased 2x dual link dvi cables on the ebay for $5 each.

That's $6 more than what it'd cost to buy 2x single link..


Now the seller sends me 2 single link cables,  and they're playing dumb like it's my fault....

I mean.. seriously.. did they think they could pull one over on people who actually use dual link cables ?

It's not like the cables would ever work..

you check the pins, all the pins should be connected in a dual link cable..

Single link cables might have all the pins on the connector,  but the center 3 columns of the connectors wouldn't be connected ..

/knowledge is power...

bandwidth limit.

single link can support up to 1920x1200.

dual link goes up to 2560x1600

If the seller said they are the dual link cables and they actually sent single link.. and they won't fix it / refund you... then open a dispute.

I'm actually using these dual link cables for purposes other than video connection.

I just need a cable with LOTS of pins..   


In this case, this ebay scam store only sent me 2/3 of the connections I paid for.

I think HDMI's ubiquity is beating out displayport even though displayport is clearly the better standard.

Pretty sure I complained here before about this very thing in the what's bothering you topic. Since the sellers don't seem to receive negative feedback about it my guess is most users are buying them for 1080p only and so don't notice they're not dual link.

The hassle of a return just isn't worth it and the sellers typically only want to refund partially. It's a gamble buying cheap electronics from eBay tbh.

I recently bought a 5m VGA cable (for a wall monitor, mounted on a long swivel arm with gas struts). It's short enough for the video signal to go through, but too long for the EDID to be readable, so it can't use the monitor's native resolution.

Also bought a 5m HDMI cable, but that one didn't even make it to me. It got wrecked in transit and returned to seller. Fortunately I got a refund.
