Best of luck. I'm not vegan but I get lunch at a vegan place fairly frequently because they've got great food.

I've been hearing a lot about fasting lately. That and cold showers seem to be the current health obsessions. Figured it was one of those no eating for a day of the week things but turns out what they're talking about is stop eating at 7pm and don't eat anything till breakfast. Approx 13 hour gaps. I do that a lot of the time already no wonder I'm thin-ish.

You doing any exercise? Walking and podcasts/audiobooks is my recommendation a few of my friends have lost mad weight without straining themselves that way.

I think the major contributor to weight loss for me so far isn't the vegan aspect,  it's the 10% calories from fat..

(Although 10% can't be achieved on meat diets), I believe it's mostly the reduced fat making the difference

The human body seems to burn carbohydrates really efficiently..

I do 25 minutes on the exercise bike every other day.. and I do small sets of pushups and pullups throughout the day.

I am the laziest sack of beans one could imagine..

Overall foodside, I am pounding rice like you wouldn't believe..

I'm eating 1700 calories per day of just rice..   + 4 to 500 calories of veggies/fruits/

I tried doing potato and yams for a while, but quickly realized that its caloric density is just too low, and I have to eat way too much mass..

Rice is better, still not as dense as Fats,  but fats in excess of 10% total calories is the root cause of diabetes / heart disease / dementia..    Because it not only clogs the major arteries as you age,  it clogs the small ones as well.

So alot of people diagnosed with parkinson etc, don't actually have parkinson,  they just have large areas of their brain vascular system clogged by fats..

What? The major contributor in your weight loss is eating below your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE). AKA eating at a calorie deficit. Fat is only a macronutrient and nothing to be afraid of. Depending on your weight I might be afraid of you getting what, 50 or fewer grams of protein a day?

If I were you I'd cut my rice in take in half, double up veggies, increase fruits. Work in soybean products, nuts, beans and some whey. You're a vegan, embrace vegetables not 7+ servings of rice a day.

I am at roughly 2100 to 2200 calories per day.

That is more than I was eating before having gone vegan..

As for fats,  check out prevent and reverse heart disease...  Esselstyn,     He's bill clinton's heart doctor,  as far as credibility, this is 100% legit.

Well I know my weight for when I had a six pack during college.

I am reasonably sure this rate is sustainable.  Because I am eating more food now, and still losing weight.

You're less lazy than me doing this sort of regimen and I've never had a six pack.

In this case you're not eating a particularly high amount of calories but do you ever worry these kind of radical diets might affect your metabolism? I've got a fairly fast one and I like it that way so I'm always suspicious of anything that might mess it up!

Well it really depends on what you'd consider radical..

1 in 4 deaths in the united states is due to Heart disease

1 in 4 deaths in the united states is also due to cancer

I would consider that radical..  Especially, when countries/ populations that eat mainly low fat and plant based diets flat out DO NOT have this problem.

When everyone smoked in the 60 70 and 80s   it was ordinary..

It's only AFTER we've figured it out did it become radical..

But we know now,  it's the fats that cause the heart disease,  and the animal Protein-composition which greatly accelerates cancer cell growth.

Googled it,  There is not a single direct quote behind that rumor.

I can't even find an article with a _Quote_ from clinton.

while there are Dozens of videos , In clinton's own words against eating fats, and promoting vegetarian/vegan lifestyles.

So, that's really all it ever was, a RUMOR... No substance /sources whatsoever...

This is direct obfuscation by the meat industry of the prevailing trend on low fat/ whole plant food.

Understand guys,  Meat industry  Sponsors American Heart Association. American Cancer Society, american diabetes association..

It's the same as The tobacco industry tactic of fueling those crazy German doctors who perform fake research to muddle the truth about the thing that's killing everyone.

Now, OF COURSE, this sound conspiracy-ee..   Which is why I can only recommend ya'll do the research for yourselves..   It's all there a google away..

In “Eat Fat, Get Thin,” Hyman outlines the “pegan” diet—a mash up of parts from the paleo and vegan diets—which he says he used to sway Bill Clinton, who turned vegan in 2004, back to eating some animal proteins again.

Ok... On the other end of the spectrum here is a New York Times article as well: https://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/13/fashion/dr-mark-hyman-clintons-health.html

Quote
Despite persistent news media reports that he is vegan, Mr. Clinton does occasionally eat fish and lean protein.

If you are still in disbelief then please provide a single quote from either Clinton or Ornish that these articles are untrue.

Why is everyone's come back "Trump" and "Coal"?  I'm surprised you didn't blame Russia!

(Or is Russia "the other bad guys"?)

Bill Clinton has always claimed that he did rarely eat fish.

He also said it was Very rarely..  and that his primary meals were vegetarian

And that he's stuck to the diet plan by Ornish and Esselstyn, which is whole food plant based.

My counter point is that mark hyman has never been quoted by the clinton themselves as having gone PALEO..

The only verified wordings from Clinton only include adherence to Ornish and Esselstyn.

I don't think Clinton has ever uttered the words paleo.. Ever..

He's never been on the books as promoting paleo.

---

Also Dante,  are you reading these articles you're pulling up,  because none of them have quotes from clinton on (paleo)..  they surround this hyman guy quoting hyman..   and how because hyman is a paleo quack,  worded that because he knows the clinton in glancing, that he's convinced them to eat paleo..

it's a name drop with nothing else.

I guess my point is, Clinton is not Vegan anymore (or maybe never was), and has a Paleo doctor handling his nutrition.

Who knows what his diet really is, this is the guy who claimed he "never had sexual relations with that woman."

Hahahahaha That is all correct,  Bill Clinton is not a vegan..

I've only said that his Primary doctors AFTER his heart bypass were  Ornish and Esselstyn..

BOTH Ornish and Esselstyn  are strongly behind   wholefood plant based diets..

Hahaha..

This is imho super difficult..

Some people eat  bacon bits sprinkled on triple fudge icecream,  (EVERY DAY)

I've yet to encounter healthy vegan food that can compete with that on taste.

The most delicious vegan foods I've tried, both at restaurants and off the shelf Clearly had a Significant quantity of added veggie fats..

So, if even if you went vegan and ate that,  you're gonna get heart disease all the same.

At the end of the day,  If people still live their lives using food as their pleasure outlet, not much will change..

We might save millions of cows, and have less cancer,   but it'll still clog peoples hearts if we ate "Oily" vegan foods..

Tough to imagine,  but maybe the will power of society will prove me wrong.

Hahahahahaha..  i don't know man.. i just don't know..

Time will tell..

But he's an old guy who's already HAD major heart surgery,   so IDK,  what's LOOKING GOOD after open heart surgery..

But, in defining KEEL OVER at any minute..

69% of American Adults are obese...   So you want to talk about who's ABOUT to keel over..  we know with relative certainty, that 69% WILL in the very near future.
