It's not about the data,  it's about breaking the cycle..

You don't have to delete Facebook if you've never had it.

For me there is no cycle.
I visit the actual site maybe once a month. I don't have any of the apps. I never share anything.

That's the precise thing..  Even though you have very little invested, they still have the power over you to get you on their site once a month..

Because the REST of society IS invested..

Even though YOU KNOW it's a not-so-healthy thing, they hold your friends as hostage..

It's similar to wechat (china skype) which doesn't let you use their app unless you agree to share your location..

Facebook is taking society at large hostage..

Hardly the most straightforward of processes, either.

Every time I am promised a discount for liking someplace on Facebook, I create a new account.
It would be a waste of time to delete them all, don't you think?

I'd say delete Facebook and hit the gym or the library, or both. Also never under any circumstances use Facebook on a mobile device, either Apple or on Android.

Here's an interesting article on this topic.

I pay such little attention to it in the first place. Too much effort to delete it.

To be honest, I actually created a Facebook account back in 2009 ... but I knew full well what Facebook was about so I felt dirty and requested it to be deleted closely after.
I never used it for anything, never used it to find any groups or people, etc. The only info they have on me should be the data I supplied on registration, and of course from tracking my IP address through buttons on other web sites for a short while.

I have all (or most) Facebook domains blocked in Privacy Badger.
