Realforce RGB Stabilizer Broken ... somehow
« on: Wed, 09 May 2018, 10:27:08 »
Hi.

Anyone know what kind of stabilizers Realforce RGB uses?  Specifically for the Zero key on the Numpad.  I'm pretty sure I broke mine while changing keycaps.  The rest of the stabilized keys are buttery smooth but this one is crunchy.

Follow-up important question:

Are these replaceable/repairable?

Thanks.

In theory every types of stabilizer can be repaired without spare parts as long as you're experienced at making your own parts, do you have experiences of repairing keyboards? It's very easy to make your keyboard unrepairable even you're very careful. If so, I recommend you to open it up carefully after reading every topic of disassembling a topre and determine the state of your stabilizer. Check with the vender you purchased from first before doing anything.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

The problem appeared to be an ill-fitting keycap.

I just got home from work and put the stock keycaps back on the numpad and now it feels as smooth as the other stabilized keys so I guess that either fixed it or I at least kicked that PITA down the road a bit.

FWIW - I was using Leopold FC210TP Black PD (PBT 2017) Keycaps on the numpad that caused the issue.  I guess it wasn't a good fit (probably where the stem meets the stabilizer? Maybe just the thickness of the cap?)

I am still using my keycaps from my Leopold FC750R PD Blue and Grey on the TKL portion of the keyboard and those don't appear to be causing any problems.
