Typing Demo XL - bolt-modded vs stock IBM Model M

As requested by a viewer, a comparison between a bolt-modded and un-modded Model M. The bolt-modded one has pretty tightly clamped plates. Hope you enjoy! :)

I'm allergic to pinging and that has always been my main pet-peeve with buckling springs. The bolt-mod seems to reduce it significantly and makes it sound really nice. Nice video!

With a bolt-mod you have the option of "tuning" the sound and feel by tightening and loosening the screws. See my cross-post on DT.

This kind of comparison is hard because every Model M feels and sounds different. They're all individuals. In my limited experience, if it feels and sounds like crap before, bolt-modding it will not fix it. That said, for one of my specimens, it did reduce the ping a bit and make it "thockier".
Maybe they're waiting for gasmasks and latex to get sexy again.
