i actually think i missed that movie (i call it the aerosmith one), and i keep forgetting to watch it.  i watched the other deep impact movie that was released around the same time.

Mmm... I like both movies.  But overall , I'd say Armageddon is the better of the 2.

There's also THE CORE (2003).. fun movie, as long as you're not a geologist.

so is this wandering earth movie actually worth seeing?  i didn't like the last couple of movies i watched from china.  usually where they try too hard to make an international blockbuster by including actors from all over and have them all speak terrible english instead of their own native languages.

and being a geologist is probably better than being a computer person and watching pretty much every other movie:

hacking alien computer systems in ID4

Tp4 considers Armageddon the greatest movie ever made.


Wandering Earth.. It's a huge leap for China, prior to this film, they didn't have a single competitive sci-fi movie for the world stage.


The CGI and sets are quite good and convincing

Weakness is plot, because china scripts have to work around censors, and the Original novel it adapted from has too much detail and needed alot of rewriting to make this first film.

Similar to how the First star wars movie was,  there was a bigger story they wanted to tell, but too long, so lucas told the exciting part first.

Except lucas is luckier, no empire approval required
