Wow, this thread is turning into {confession of perverts} :D

Jkjk.. it's ok.. this is the internet afterall. :))

various fantasies are not novel, it's just that now they have a 2D anime style extension.

ALSO, do not watch OREIMO S2, it was on some recommended list i pulled.

This stuff is bad for your health......  the themes it explores can only lead to social disorder and futher deviance.  >:D

I'm watching S1 right now (a little late, I know). I wasn't expecting much more than moe but it is actually pretty good in my opinion.

An absolute classic is Ranma. Hard to come by, but I think Netflix had some disks from the first few seasons. The best episodes have excellent animation and the premise is very unique. It was everywhere in Asia in the early-80ish timeframe and definitely one of the best series I've ever seen.

I forgot, it's actually Ranma 1/2 and it's even a little younger feeling than I remember at first glance, but seriously, give this one a shot. I couldn't believe that this was basically the equivalent of network TV in asia when I was a kid.

My favorite way to watch: Japanese audio with English Subtitles. The english actors totally destroy this stuff. That's why I'm recommending the disks from Netflix if you can get them. A very difficult find, seriously - I don't think you can buy in the US but an Asian friend might have been a friend and have a copy.

SERIOUSLY: the BEST character you've ever seen is the little old man. Hilarious!!! Can't believe he was collecting what he was collecting on network TV! Might be difficult to start, but believe me this series has LEGS. LOL.

Wow... Youtube changes fast. Compare the above (English Dub) to the link below (Japanese with English Subtitles): totally different story.

Seems like a lot of it is available on Youtube! Enjoy!

Ohh thanks god! I'm kinda relieved ...

I saw one year ago more or less:
- Desert Punk (hilarious, however I got kinda disappointed with the end)
- Tokyo underground
- Death note (the plot has one good starting point but it gets cold at the end)
- Hellsing (weak, kinda "hack and slash" with vampires - I didn't liked it)
- Blood+ (more vampires, not bad but totally predictable)
- Alive (ahh, not an anime but it's pretty cool)
- The Yamato Movie (2012?)

I hate most anime but I watched Highschool of the Dead after much coercion this morning and actually enjoyed it. No stupid nonsensical emotional plots, no fluffer episodes that accomplish absolutely nothing, no drawn out pacing, no whiny emo pretty boy who hates his privileged life and wont shut up about his feelings. Just some good 'ol ultraviolence and T&A in a 12 episode package.

I believe the bathing episode might be considered a little bit of a fluffer for me.....see what I did there that episoded fluffed me :).

No, yeah. I thought about that right after I typed it. That episode was pretty pointless... although Seiko in that apron seemed pretty important at the time.

Great minds think a like I suppose :) any word on season 2?

The manga was on hiatus since sometime in 2011, but I think it just got some traction again.  Now, we can only hope they start working on a second season of the anime since they're going to start getting the material again from the manga.

Watamote is the only one I've watched so far this season.  I downloaded a couple others that looked kinda interesting but haven't given them the time yet.  Been going through the index/railgun series and just finished the first season of both, starting 2nd.

and to Sifo I think he meant that's on his "you should watch this" list, not that he hasnt seen it yet.

I downloaded the first episode since I saw it seemed kinda popular on /a/ but haven't watched it yet.  Gargantia I started and got to like ep 4 before I put it on hold.  It looked really nice but I found the MC girl(amy?) kinda annoying.  I'm sure I'll pick it up again eventually.

you can honestly watch gargantia eps 1,2,3,4,7,12,13 and have a full story. i found all the characters unlikable, just blah, in fact chamber (the mech) was the only one with personality, and he's programmed without it!

Well I prefer styles like that, probably highly rated like Code Geass :D. I'm fine with mainstream. Action and such mostly

The first season of Darker Than Black is great.  It's hard to recommend anything to be as good as Code Geass but a lot of people say Death Note is similar but I have never seen it myself.  If I had to give some suggestions off the top of my head that are actiony I would say Mirai Nikki, Summer Wars (movie), and Fate/Zero.

This. Also I’d like to add Kiniro Mosaic. It’s basically the best show ever made right next to Yuru Yuri if you’re both into cute girls doing cute things and Yuri.

Kiniro Mosaic, Stella Jogakuin Koutouka C3-bu, Teekyuu 2, Uchouten Kazoku, Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi, Gen'ei o Kakeru Taiyo, WataMote, my favorites this season.

Anybody else really enjoying Servant x Service?

Yup. Pretty enjoyable, although I don’t think it’s even in my top10 this season. I really like this season. I’ll probably watch next to nothing this fall though, nothing particularly interesting announced there. I’m still hoping for Mahouka, but it seems it will come this winter, not fall…

I heard the claymore anime was **** compared to the manga.  That would probably explain why it only got one season.

Really? I'd followed the manga from roughly where the anime ended....after the War in the North and the fight with Priscilla. Damn shame though, it has a real interesting storyline with some twists......other than the weekly Naruto manga, the monthly Claymore manga is the only other manga I'd follow religiously.

I never read or watched either so take what I say with a grain of salt.  It's just what I heard from others who had been a fan of the series before.  I'm sure if you googled you could find other people's opinions.  Also maybe since you picked up where it left off you didn't see the differences in the anime adaptation and the manga.  There could have been majors changes.

That was a real downer, wasn't it? I was like, where's season 2? :'( I wanted to know more, like what the black cloaked men of the Organization were up to? Who could beat the Abyssal Ones? (Other than Priscilla who seemed near omnipotent). What was going to happen to Clare, Myria and the rest? So many unanswered questions, so I turned to the manga.....

btw... just finished Magi: the magic labyrinth (very nice, cant wait for season 2), Robotics;Notes, Zetsuen no Tempest (Oh god, this has got to be one of the candidates for anime of the year 2013) and Psycho-Pass (the story is dark and wicked, cant wait for season 2!!!)

I watched claymore and didnt read the manga. Loved it until it just ended. :(

Basically all the characters started to approach DBZ (non-gt)  power levels.

when that happens, it's hard to make the story compelling.. your characters are basically all SSJ or Pre-SSJ (K. oh. ken x 10) or so

That's near invincibility.

And for the discerning viewers,  without weakness there can be no drama.

Claymore.... one of the many animes that I hoped for a season 2... but damn Madhouse... they are very unlikely to make season twos... T.T

btw... just finished Magi: the magic labyrinth (very nice, cant wait for season 2), Robotics;Notes, Zetsuen no Tempest (Oh god, this has got to be one of the candidates for anime of the year 2013) and Psycho-Pass (the story is dark and wicked, cant wait for season 2!!!)

now watching Birdy the Mighty Decode;02

The Manga went to monthly releases. I am so sad >.<

which manga you addressing?

I'm watching Watamote and C3Bu, both seem good so far.

This. Also I’d like to add Kiniro Mosaic. It’s basically the best show ever made right next to Yuru Yuri if you’re both into cute girls doing cute things and Yuri.

Just started watching this. Really entertaining show.

Damn here I go. Lets see if I can remember it all (not in any specific order, just out of memory):

Naruto and Naruto Shipuuden
Serial Experiments Lain
Ninja Scroll and Ninja Resurrection
Gantz
Elfen Lied
Vision of Escaflowne (awesome)
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Rurouni Kenshin (OAV) Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal
Akira
Spriggan (loved it, but everyone else I know hated it)
Dragonball and Dragonball Z (skipped GT as the end of DBZ was already way over the top)
Princess Mononoke
Grave of the Fireflies
Outlaw Star
Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
Trigun
FLCL
Berserk
Ghost in the Shell
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
Last Exile
Vandread
Vampire Hunter D
Hellsing
Jin-Roh
Spirited Away

That's about all I can think of right now. I know there are a ton more.
