It is possible, but to me, jd seems like the type of person who wouldn't turn down that offer, as it would be even more of an opportunity to help this place out.

Sometimes people don't want to be mod and they are happy with the status quo

Idk he has a lot on his plate from what I see.  With GH60, all the international group buys he does shipping for, and possibly an upcoming alps project, he may not feel he could perform the duties.

All that is just speculative though, who knows!

Just call him Eddie ;)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I always wonder why anybody would want to be a mod.  Too many hours required without any compensation.  Only headaches, and nobody ever thinks you're doing a good job.  I see nothing but downside, tbh.

That is why I always say, Hey Mods, you're doing a great job!

Moderating a forum takes a decent amount of time and energy. I know I wouldn't do it if it were offered to me, as it's way too time consuming and stressful (depending on the board, of course. I have a feeling GH would be quite a bit less stressful than most).

Not necessarily, no. JD is a sphinx, a conundrum inside an enigma, wrapped up in a mystery. Maybe he likes it that way, I don't know. Maybe he just doesn't want to get caught up in the nontroversy. Or, he's Batman.

There are lots of pretty awesome people around GH who would probably make great mods, so I don't think it's strange that they're not all mods.

I don't imagine there is now, what with the addition of two new moderators.

And really? Status symbol? Do you see the amount of people who think it would be hard work and would not want to do it? No, I don't imagine moderating would be a status symbol. If that were the case, I would suggest myself for moderator...

then why would you want to suggest someone else for mod now?
If there's no shortage of mods and all the work is basically gonna be done by the new mods, is there a point to this suggestion?

Or are you saying you personally feel slighted that JD didn't get consideration for mod instead of someone else?

Not personally slighted, but curious. It is my opinion that he would sufficiently fit the role, and I wondered whether anyone agreed, and why he hadn't been offered (if he hasn't been).

personally i agree with you, but i'd have asked him directly 1st b4 making a thread about it lol.
I just feel this would either put him in a bad spot if he turned down being a mod.

Why are we still discussing this?

Mods don't really have much to do around here.. there's not enough content to really moderate..

Outside of the Purchase section of GH,, there's nothing for the mods to sink their teeth into..

Okay. Then, for the hypothetical purposes of this thread, let's assume that he hasn't been approached, thus has not had any opportunity to turn it down. What you think about approaching him in the first place, with the position?

I think he would make a great mod. But I think he's doing so much great work on his various projects that he would likely turn it down. Being a mod is supposed to be work, and maybe the owners of GH don't want to ask him to put even more on his plate. Full disclosure: I have no inside knowledge of their doings or thoughts at all -- I am conjecturing wildly.

In that vein, I can't think of anyone who would be opposed to jd becoming a mod.

microsoft windows would make a great admin.

If he was an admin the entire forum would be upshifted.

Possible that he has been approached and just declined the offer?

Yeah, why not this? Nothing sinister.

Who said anything about sinister? No, nothing like that.

Also, if that were the case, don't you think maybe he'd drop in here to say so?

Not necessarily, no. JD is a sphinx, a conundrum inside an enigma, wrapped up in a mystery. Maybe he likes it that way, I don't know. Maybe he just doesn't want to get caught up in the nontroversy. Or, he's Batman.

There are lots of pretty awesome people around GH who would probably make great mods, so I don't think it's strange that they're not all mods.

Okay. Then, for the hypothetical purposes of this thread, let's assume that he hasn't been approached, thus has not had any opportunity to turn it down. What you think about approaching him in the first place, with the position?

THIS IS INTERESTING...
