Our good buddy and resident Topre Enthusiast Tp4Tissue has assured us that Silencing Rings can be made for MUCH cheaper!

Guys.. I know you want to silence your hhkbs and do topre conversions..

But you should not support Hypersphere , because they are criminals at charging you guys $60 for something worth 50 cents.

For example

That is a profit price, meaning it costs less than $1.66 to make 50 orings..


Hyperspheres are not super duper Orings, there's nothing super special about the material, or production cost.

Yet they are charging you guys $60..



How much are hyperspheres people getting them for.. Most likely less than $0.10 for 1000..



How are you guys NOT angry about this.. ??

Maybe if we drum up enough interest, we can get TP4 to make some sets for us!

Mx Silent is a superior switch because of the availability of replacement parts,  uniform resistance induced by the mx springs..


Topre on the otherhand is merely an uncreative throwback.

the rubber sheet is a cost cutting move to exclude more expensive individual switches..

My friction with hypersphere is not directly related to my distaste for topre-hype..

But Overall...

Ya'll kidz are paying too much for too few and too shoddy a product..

However,  Mx blue is Tp4's favorite switch because it is the switch with the least friction point on the market..

I don't know what's more important with this thread...  The awareness that hyper rings are gimmicky and TP4 knows it...  OR the discussion on MX silent switches.  Seems the thread should have been written to credit TP4 on his mad advice on MX Silent switches.

The point is not that they are to gimmicky. The point is that they are too expensive for what they actually are and cost to produce.

Also, I might be mistaken, but I don't see ANY reference here to the relatively new MX Red / Black silent switches..?

I guess point of this thread is... more people would like to get in on groupbuy for hyperspheres but not want to drop the 60-70-80 dollars that they typically go for and perhaps a groupbuy can make the price go lower.
