to end someone's entire livelihood and career over something they wrote anonymously

sniffing out decades old private information

Applying for a job and accepting an offer is a far different thing than is running for and winning an elective office in public service.

I believe that public service is a noble endeavor and that public servants should be held to the highest standards of ethics and behavior.

Choosing to vote for the opponent of a scumbag is quite different from firing a person from his job.

If his "entire livelihood" is ended now he can only blame himself.
"The post-mortem blame game has already started, here as well as elsewhere: Harris did this, or didn’t do that, or Biden should have, shouldn’t have, whatever. Bull****.
This wasn’t Harris’s fault. She ran a campaign based on reality, while Trump, and the GOP in general, did a con job on America. And America bought it, because too many of us couldn’t face reality and didn’t want to remember history.
The GOP victory was a triumph of illusion."

You may not agree with the guy's politics, but I think it is of the utmost stupidity to end someone's entire livelihood and career over something they wrote anonymously on a porn forum 14 years ago.
As if humans don't change over time, as if a site for anonymous debauchery is the peak representation of your personality, or as if no one in history every wrote something stupid on the Internet, or as if digital privacy has zero meaning, or as if no one has ever had 3 beers and then felt a little horny and typed something they didn't fully believe into an adult site, or as if everything anyone says ever on the Internet is 100% true.
I thought cancel culture and people sniffing out decades old private information like virtue signaling truffle pigs was finally dying out. Makes me sick the lengths some people will go to dig up dirt.

This has almost nothing to do with his fantasies with women and the activities he did with them. The blow back is from his comments about MLK and black people in general. Saying we gave up freedoms to pass the civil rights bill. Dude is unfit to serve for the people of NC. You don't have to agree with his politics to objectively look at this person and go "wow, you shouldn't lead people".

@ the fohat,  If you've spent any time working for people in power/wealth, 99% of them are exactly like Trump, but they speak more eloquently like Biden/Harris.

It's like you'd expect all your priests to be upstanding individuals, and yet, here we are.

So, this really calls into question, is it that everyone's a cretin, or have we mistakenly applied artificial behavioral archetypes to society where NONE of the humans actually measure up.

In the perversity of a "representative" democracy, the people yield their power to their representatives, who can then create artificial "norms" and coerce the peons into acquiescing to them.

The Founders of the US trusted in the wisdom of an informed populace, and that is where our system has failed.

The number of nights I have been able to get a full night of uninterrupted sleep in the last year and a half can be counted on the fingers of my left hand.
I always wake up early with a full ostomy bag that I need to empty, even when I have not eaten late the night before and even if I have taken pills to slow the bowels down. And when I need to empty the bag, I force myself up to do it and then I can't fall back to sleep. I often crash in the afternoon and go to sleep then.

And now I've got a new job where I have go up even an hour earlier than before. I spent yesterday in a haze.
Today I woke up at 5 am with a full bag and an achy nose that I'd need to rinse. My alarm bell just went off. This day is going to be awful.

3 Mile Island is being re-started to power MicroSoft's Artificial Intelligence facility.

What's wrong with this picture?

I started  an internship last week, as part of a program for people who are unemployed and/or have been seriously ill. The people in charge of implementing the program have done a really poor job: for months they have have exploited me for government money and held me back from opportunities I would otherwise have got. A couple of days ago I sent one of them an email explaining how I felt.
I shouldn't have done that... Now I'm laying awake afraid that they'll retaliate after reading that email and take also the internship away from me.
As if I wasn't already in a piss-poor mood with high anxiety.

Whatever it is, Findecanor, that you're worried about, you can relax, no one is likely to survive.

The cncnet patch makes everything work pretty darn good. I guess if the pro players all use hotkeys, it doesn't matter that the UI becomes too small. The right side menu bar is too small in 4k. And the doods get even smaller.

1920x1080 is probably the highest with comfortable ui.   1600x900 might be a decent compromise.

47 job apps over the last 2 weeks = 47 rejection emails, with not even a single interview

If a relevant BA degree, and 7 years direct experience in similar fields is not good enough for even an interview, what the hell are they looking for?

I am speaking as someone who lives in a metro of 300k and hasn't applied for a job in 6.5 years. How big of a market do you live in and if I may ask, what field are you trying to get into? Where I live in the midwest the job market is rather robust and job hopping is rather easy from what I can tell. I work in the IT sector and have friends also in that field. Is it possible your market is too saturated with other applicants? I am not saying "if you want a decent job you HAVE to move" because it's not how it works. Just curious what it looks like in your part of the world.

Seattle area is a huge tech market, my background is in Game Design, Writing, and Production Management. First 6 years out of college I had no issues finding work, and had multi-year contracts with big names in tech. But the past 4 years I cannot even land interviews, and have been working retail positions just to barely get by.

I've revamped my resume and cover letters multiple times, applied to jobs I am overqualified for, reached out to hiring managers. I'm out of ideas, out of resources, and out of time. Over the past 7 months I've probably applied to over 200 jobs. Not one interview that entire time. I just do not know what to do any more.

Role was later filled internally by porting a guy from Shanghai.

PS3 YLOD is rarely due to faulty NEC Tokin capacitors. Turns out it's mainly failed RSX solder joints. It's still a heat problem, but the caps are not the killer.

See, this is the kind of Console BS myths that ruin people's hardware.

Good thing Tp4 was way too lazy to "pre-emptively" replace all his ps3 caps as the internet suggested AT THE TIME.

Wanted to splurge a little tonight on some beer and pizza.
Wound up with cold pizza, and warm beer.
Story of my life.

Thought about this type of events alot.

Overtime, humanity builds karma. We heavily damaged the environment, we engaged in the Animal-Holocaust. The price paid for it accrue generations in the future, which is now our present.

So, many of us pay or will pay for the sins-of-our-fathers.

There may be physical distance, a pane of time, or a gap of air, but we are the same animal across the history. It makes sense that our transgressions against the natural universe coalesce.

Putting down the knife, is only the first step in atonement, and most humans don't even get that far.

The universe might not look too closely at individuals, a jesus carry of the totality of sins of mankind was merely fiction told by the church to sell-absolution.

The collector is here, our bill, 1 civilization.

The universe might not look too closely at individuals, a jesus carry of the totality of sins of mankind was merely fiction.

I really think that you should think about cutting down on it.

It, or whatever you have been using, is obviously impairing your judgement. We have seen examples of that from you over and over again here on the forum.

Tp4 faces 100 year problems.

We are not the same.

Why the world's religions can't get along.

Because they're all idiots.

Why's this stuff so expensive ?

I have noticed that common-grade steel hardware has really gone up. Perhaps a combination of weight and tariffs?
"The post-mortem blame game has already started, here as well as elsewhere: Harris did this, or didn’t do that, or Biden should have, shouldn’t have, whatever. Bull****.
This wasn’t Harris’s fault. She ran a campaign based on reality, while Trump, and the GOP in general, did a con job on America. And America bought it, because too many of us couldn’t face reality and didn’t want to remember history.
The GOP victory was a triumph of illusion."

You can buy a whole table and just cut the welds for cheaper than these tubes.

Many times I have bought something solely for the purpose of "parting it out" to do something else with.

Nasal pain. From dust or whatever. Pollution probably also has a part. I'm a bit sick now.

Get dat nasal rinse squirt bottles. Don't get the pot, it's hard to use.

Boil some salt water, let cool. Do not use bottled water, it's got germs, and you can die from meningitis.

Oh, I use those all the time. Takes too long for the boiled water to cool to body temperature though, and they are not enough.
