I don't think this "Jarrad Walton"  gets it...  or maybe he just wanted to be "impartial".

but, at least the review is now out there on a Brand name site.

Anandtech is still by far the best tech review site, IMO.


EDIT: Also, the first user comment on this review is hilarious "kids don't need to learn to use keyboards these days, so ergonomic keyboards are going to be a thing of the past".  I'll start coding on some kind of alternative input mechanism when you pry the keyboard from my cold, dead hands.

I thought the review was pretty impartial and accurate.

While his observations are spot on the article was written for the masses, and it really made me tired... It just felt like he was really bored with it, and didn't have a great experience.  I'm a little shocked that he was surprised that the keyboard felt spaced out and really better for large hands.  Maybe I've forgotten my Kinesis experience, but I could have sworn all of these non-staggered layouts feel more spacious.

This is cool, and will give the dox a lot of exposure.

But I agree about it being written for the typical tech consumer, not a keyboard enthusiast.

I agree with Binge and one thing you have to commend the author for is he did mention time and time again that the experience is very subjective and likely to be different for each user and said, on paper the ErgoDox seems amazing.

can't say i'm totally behind making the thumb section Lower.

If it HAS to be lower,  the key should be Closer to the main section..

but as is, I feel like it's even more of a stretch.

For me it's not really the thumb section thing.

The thing that I'm pumped about is the modularity.

The keystation.

The 70%.

And IMO the black looks AWESOME.

But the OG ergodox deserves a TON of credit still.

But the OG ergodox deserves a TON of credit still.

the Edx is a revolutionary concept.. the massdrop board itself is a small part of that.

I am not religious, just using a common analogue.


I think modularity is definitely a great addition.. I'm hoping for that cluster to move in more than one plane, maybe "rotate" downwards.

Owing to the modularity of the design, I plan to offer a couple of different styles of the split case to accommodate different hand sizes. (Good) gloves don't come in a one-size-fits-all, why should your keyboard?
