Cherry MX Clears?

I've been hearing awesome things about these switches, and would like to know of any popular keyboards that carry 'em.

Also, I would like to hear your opinions on them as well! So post away~

Depends, what size layout are you looking for? For TKL keyed up labs (KUL) is probably your best best. They had pokers (60%) on massdrop with clears, they might have them again. I've heard from some people that the CODE boards were nice except for the serious ping

You may also want to try Mx Red and blacks... before you decide.. or get both..

the typing rhythm is very different  because the lack of feed back gives you a more flowing sensation..

I think the stem is thicker and it makes pulling off keycaps much harder.

this is correct

but really only DSA is too much harder to pull off. I have no issues with GMK or DCS profile.

I understood that SP had resolved the tight DSA issue.

I don't recall any specific problems removing Granite from my QFS.

I love clears and use them daily, used clears are even better.

But I have found GMK caps can be a really tight fit, actually most caps besides DCS and OEM.  I use a hamblet key puller so its not a problem.

Have you tried SA (e.g. Nuclear Green) on clear?  Are they tight too?

I found my Costar stabiliser inserts extremely loose with Nuclear Green SA.

I have not, and it seems like costar inserts are loose in most SP caps.

I have tried Penumbra SA on Clears and found them quite tight, similar to GMK.

And the Clear stems are not thicker, they just have some ridges on the stem as seen in this post: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=53113.msg1183206#msg1183206

It's even easier to see the bumps on tactile Grey stems: http://deskthority.net/wiki/File:CherryMX_diff_grey_brown_068487.jpg

For some caps, like the Keycool POM ones it helps to use a loose switch and cycle a few times putting the cap on and pulling it off. It widens the gap a touch, but they still fit fine on "normal" stems like Browns and Blacks.

as of approximately may this year, SP was still selling blank black pbt dsa caps that could rip the stem and/or top housing off of a switch
