Moments in life you know you are screwed
« on: Tue, 18 June 2013, 07:05:37 »
That moment when you are playing nice relaxing game of Civ V before bed only to notice a few turns later that rays of sunlight are peeking through your blinds, and birds are softly chirping to remind you about that important job interview you've got in 3 hours.

God*#$%ing dammit, at least today will be interesting. :'(

When you go to college, get your degree, start working in your chosen field...and then realize you have no interest in the day-to-day reality of your chosen field.

But I am not that screwed because I have a stable job and income.
I guess that is coming from a voice of privilege because I was lucky enough to get a degree and graduate debt free.
Wish I had some gif or quote for this space, but I got nothing

That moment when you hammer your genitalia against something and realize that there is no fleshy hole to deposit your seed.

Conversely, when said hole is present, the result is the same, though the definition changes.

Today was so great!
That moment when you get 1 hour of sleep before that important job interview, completely botch the entire thing, then later like a complete idiot displace your anger at yourself onto your script writing professor during a private meeting when she doesn't like your screenplay and is only trying to help make it better. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a lengthy and groveling letter of apology to type up. FML.

You put your wife's cellphone in your back pocket because she doesn't have any and left her purse in the car.  After forgetting about her thin new smartphone in your back pocket you've successfully gone food shopping.  Horsing around with her causes her to drop a carton of eggs, and as you try and save the eggs (unsuccessfully) your ass meets the pavement below.

That'll learn you for trying to horse play w/the Mrs. after turning in your man-card for a life of guilt/ridicule.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis

Essentially you have fooled your body into thinking you are asleep.  You can actually force sleep paralysis, it's kinda hard though (and sleep paralysis can be terrifying, so I wouldn't recommend it)

This is best to do at a time when you are very tired.  Lie on your back and shut your eyes try as hard as you can to not fall asleep.  Resist any urge to fidget, tods and turn, or itch.  These urges are the body's way of testing if you are awake.  After 30 minutes to an hour you will fall into sleep paralysis.  You are now in REM sleep.  Open your eyes.  You can't move, however you may see frightening **** like an intruder in your room.

Keep in mind that some people cannot do this, it is possible though.

That moment when you try to go around a UPS truck, and you forget your car has a big arse, and then proceed to drag your rear quarter panel into one of the rails attached to the back of the UPS truck putting a nice foot long gash in your quarter panel....

On the highway in your well maintained sporty fun car... crest the small rise and see the traffic standing still.  Come to a smoking halt with your bumper literally UNDER the truck in front of you (no damage!).... Now watch the rear view as an old beat up PoS pickup truck attempts the same stop.

I've had some scary moments with sleep paralysis where I was sleeping with my head facing my pillow where I was having trouble breathing through my pillow but I couldn't move my head. I was just lying there suffocating silently until I could move my head again, very scary.

When you wake up in the morning.

In college I had a friend who did not drink. He said that his older brother told him that he should always drink. When David asked: "Why?'

answer: "Because otherwise you have to wake up knowing that is as good as you are going to feel all day."

buying two wine bottles in a club. getting almost deadly drunk after them. waking up the next morning and seeing those bottles, one of which is full, another one is only 2/3 empty.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.
