As the title says, I may be having another surgery in the near future and need stuff to occupy my time. I own a PS3, PS4, and a PC (without a dedicated GPU, although I may grab my buddies gtx660 for cheap).

I plan to pick up Destiny for PS4, right before the surgery so I can play through it during my downtime. If I get the 660 I want to get D3 and ROS expansion.

Can anybody help with any free PC games?

thanks, Senor TSD

Lots of free games, many are even legal.

One of my favourites is the classic adventure game : "beneath a steel sky".

GOG.com has free games, they are old games so they should run without a problem :) If you don't already, you should get PSN+ gives you free games, worth a try... Was going to suggest you try Titan Fall as you (could at least) download it and play it for free, well for 48 hours... it's not great but pretty good for free

When I was laid up with a concussion, reading really helped me to pass the time. Perhaps getting some suggestions on books or buying a Kindle might be something to look into?

If you like Diablo and want something free.. try Path of Exile, very high quality game!

Good idea, I've been reading alot of Philip K **** recently, I can't recommend Ubik enough (it's also not a 2k page book like GoT's either :) )!

Oh and I wrote a how-to to getting Snatcher (the Sega CD classic from Hideo Kojima before he made Metal Gear Solid) that you can find here

Kindle is amazing.. my wife has 2 and I have one, and we just recently gave another one to her sister..

Reamde, Ready Player One, Game of Thrones and the rest, Name of the Wind, A Wise Man's Fear, The Girl With All the Gifts (very interesting take on the zombie novel), A Fire Upon the Deep, The Mote in God's Eye, The Reality Dysfunction The Neutronium Alchemist and The Naked God by Peter F Hamilton.. few good books to get you started

Pathofexile.com for PoE..   lol

Some food for thought, many PC games can be had for the same price as Destiny. Just keep an eye out on Steam and Humble Bundles and there's always something on sale that's worthwhile. I haven't paid over $10 for a game in a long time. It's best if you haven't played tons of AAA games in the past couple years (like myself), because there's a massive back catalog of stuff you can pull from. For example, my current to-play list includes Dishonored, Far Cry 2, and XCOM, all of which can be had for < $10 (I think usually closer to $5).

^^The only book ive ever read and didnt get bored of it 5 minutes was 'Sled Driver'

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0929823087?pc_redir=1409110634&robot_redir=1

I am fascinated with anything "fast", like if I start reading about, lets say, a B52 I will keep reading for hours and stop with SCRAM Jets or something along those lines.

Im not a "huge" fan of Fiction unless its something thst catches my eye. Ive been thinking of picking a copy of Under the Dome because the tv show rocks and im positive the book isceven better

If you like fast reads, check out most anything by Stuart Woods. They are fast paced and exciting.

Actually, if you will commit to reading ANY book, I have a lightly used Kindle here that I'll send you for free. And I'll fill it with books.

I read Under The Dome and they have butchered it in the TV show IMO but at the same time there were things they couldn't put on TV.

There's Counter Strike on Steam.

Minecraft.

Warface and Warframe are free on Steam. So are Unturned and Planetside 2 along with Team Fortress 2.

Realm of the Mad God is still good for killing time quickly, and I still play off and on for the past 3-4 years. It's like the first Zelda(NES) game meets a bullet hell shmup with a touch of Dark Souls and smushed into an MMORPG.

Plus it's free both on Steam and through your browser: http://www.realmofthemadgod.com/

Maybe try reading smaller books.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Try a book: Hyperion by Dan Simmons. I have a hard time believing anyone wouldn't be swept up by that series.

Update: Surgery number 1 of 3 was thursday, im doing pretty good and am in very little pain. The surgery was to fix the right side of my nose that missing a latge portion of skin, I also had another issue where my septun was skewed but he said he was going to mess with it (note this was effecting my breathing). Welp, when I woke up I instantly noticed I could breathe better, the doctor fixed my skewed septum as well

Whoa! Just stumble upon this! I hope you are recovering well, bro!

Yeah, playing games will definitely help pass time. When I had my appendices (spell?) cut off, it took me two weeks to recover and I remember Mafia keeping me occupy on those days when I'm bed ridden. Or watch a TV; or a book - Game Of Thrones is pretty epic! Good luck bro!

I've been playing dota2 all this time with my 5 year old gpu (Sapphire vapor) I honestly don't think there is a need for a really fancy GPU unless you are going hardcore gaming and you plan on playing in 4k resolution.
