Just watched the youtube-Ad..

//Friends Required

They look so happy in the video, playing games with their buddies, Tp4 doesn't recall that's how games were played, but hey..

I'm just gonna play it in my room and never leave the house. The size kills it for me, hope they at least offer a smaller version.

In the ad -- video,  they implied that you would meet a cute girl somewhere... and you guys could play Nintendo-switch together..

Kinda bull****.. look how attractive both those people are..    last time I checked ultra attractive people like that spent 0 time playing vidya..

Nintendo sucks at naming. Everyone makes fun of their names before release, then the names become household.

I like the concept, and hope it does well.

Don't think of it like a mobile device, think of it like a home console that's somewhat more portable.

Well they definitely showed it playing Skyrim which would be KILLER on a mobile device like that.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

I don't get their angle: Why would you want a console to be portable? But then again, I don't have their vision but after all the Wii failed (IMHO). It was fun in the beginning, but most people I know sold it off or have it sitting somewhere in a corner gathering dust.

i have questions about the portable screen thingy, like battery life, screen visibility, performance (looked pretty laggy in the video)

however they didn't go with VR gimmick so i hope it succeeds

Actually the wii was one of their most successful products. I don't care for the concept but love my 3ds so I guess I'll give it a shot

Yeah it SOLD like crazy. But how many people KEPT USING it? That's what I'm wondering? I may be completely wrong on this, but I know like 4 people around me who used it for like 6-7 months and then ditched it. Like the novelty wore off or something.

I think that's the reason this may fail, it looks awkward in the portable scenario and it's going to have low performance for a home console.

On the other hand... I could game properly while taking a dump. Seriously: this instead of 9gag while having a dump session. That would be so cool. Now of course you could never share the experience (except for maybe here on GH)

I think we can all agree that the name is absolutely retarded.

I will still be calling it the NX even after release.

It's a lot more marketable than NX.

Think of it like this:

It's release day for the new "New NXi pro edge"

You work in Best Buy.

Someone walks in and says "My son says he wants a nintendo"

Switch is a lot easier.

It's bland, forgettable, has no self-aware brand identification, is not catchy, and is easily confusable. From just a purely marketable perspective it is a brand recognition nightmare.

The WiiU may have been stupid sounding, but at least you remembered it and it could stand on it's own. Successful brands get appropriated into successful words, and switch is already a fairly common word.

Nintendo should have chosen a more obscure word, or gone full fabrication.

I think it's been used because it implies flexibility, it's kind of onomatopoeic, and there isn't anything in the console market with a similar name. With all the short lettered names and stuff, the word switch does stand out when looking at consoles.

The flexibility is clearly the most important thing for Nintendo. If it has the processing power that was simulated in the trailer, then I think people would move away from their phones for games on travels, provided the battery holds up. Carrying a WiiU sized device which has the flexibility to get smaller is pretty appealing, I mean it would be if I hadn't just bought a 5.5in screen smartphone.

I think being able to play with each side of the controller separate is really cool, like a less gimmicky nunchuck. I would be interested to see how everything connects and charges and stuff.

Name is alright, not great, but easy to remember. I do enjoy the logo. I'll be getting it of course, die hard Nintendo fan, just hope it will be great. Unlike lots of people I still do have lots of friends to play games with, as well as the wife.

I'm more worried that the first Mario party for it will be as bad as 9 and 10.

If they put a monster hunter on it, I'll be in heaven.

you can't be serious, because Nintendo fans are some of the most rabid and indoctrinated groups you'll ever see.

I worked over at Nintendo briefly, I have seen people fist fight over Zelda in an office parking lot.
