The best modern gaming keyboard! (and why)

(note, due to what seems to be a rendering error there is no sound in the intro)
I've thought about this long and hard, and this is my conclusion!

When I read the title, I was almost sure that it would be an Alps board. You never cease to surprise me.
<armin> i have the impression the only reason the mx red switch was invented was drunk people

Freestyle Edge..

Significant improvement over traditional flat boards.

Flat 1piece keyboards are a throwback to the Industrialized need to REDUCE PRODUCTION COST.

There's absolutely no reason outside of (Nostalgia) anyone should use a 1 piece , non-tented keyboard.

Well, my love for Alps boards is of course well-known, and some of them hold up quite well to gaming for sure. But they don't really have that genuine edge over other keyboards in terms of performance.

The Wooting does make some sense, but I was really hoping you would pull out a Razer Black Widow as a joke.

May have to try some of these though, forgot they had a tactile version.

The Wooting does make some sense

The analog profiles are VERY buggy, idk how he managed to type actual words on it. I had to give up and use digital mode for the time being.

Edit: let me elaborate more.
In analog mode, which is the only way to disable keys or remap them, there are several bugs:
1) random quirks in browser when editing bookmarks (which i do several times a day)
2) lag and back cursor positioning when typing in common W10 apps such as Facebook and Messenger
3) prevents the PC from entering sleep mode

Yes, modes can be switched on the fly and the profiles are saved on board, so before entering a game it could be done and the analog features be used, but still...

All praises about the switches are spot on. Moreover, standard keycaps are ultra-smooth on top, which I love. Led bleeding is also minor.
But, because of the state of the software, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend it until they fix it.

Proof that I own a W1 (or that my cat owns it):

Awwwww! That's one of the cutest cats I've ever seen <3!

I found that sometimes there were issues when configuring stuff, but they could almost invariably be fixed by un- and re-plugging it. Another common conflict was that the digital keys were overriding the analog ones, so I had to disable the digital keys in some cases.

That said, the analog feature has problems, for sure. Not that I found it unreliably per se, but more that many games simply didn't support it. I've heard it's fantastic on emulators, though.

Thank you. Gandalf always appreciates compliments.

You got the linear version right? Me the clicky, but feels very smooth as well, definitely smoother than mx blues and clones. Not as pleasant sound as clickbars nor my favourite of the other clicky mx bunch: the very underrated kailh speed gold.

That is a good name for that cat xD . Yes, mine is the linear version, although I do have a few clicky switches :) .

Sense in the fact that you can tune it.
Points go to them though for having Linux and Mac support, that surprised me.  Bummer about the profiles.

Yes, mine is the linear version, although I do have a few clicky switches :) .

They gave me 2 extra linears and 2 extra clickies. The clickies sounded worse in the GMMK (not modded with sound assorber yet) than in the Wooting.
The linears although smooth, well, are not for me. But excellent for pure gamers.

They said that will release tactile switches if the demand is high enough (they are a small company), but I'm afraid they'll be just another brown clone. I'm not impressed with their customer service for reasons that trascend this thread. But at least we can mod the flaretech switches ourselves.
