It's not all from just hormone driven decisions however research on it is rather limited as men just don't really want to discuss it. It's actually surprising how little we really know about certain things, not because we can't but because of a medical industry being very prudish or scared of a prudish society.

Guess my case is different, I cook with more veggies than my wife - so in turn she eats more veggies due to me.  Also I am the one who cooks since she puts it off to the point where we would be forced to either cook late or get take-out.

nope does not work, you can be very fat by eating only vegan food (fries are vegan, potatoes fried in vegetable oil / as are dried tomatoes and pepper in oil, and most gummies) and you can be skinny while eating mostly meat, and well steamed/boiled food is not often the tastiest option, but by far the healthiest.
