Efficiency Noodle Initiative
« on: Tue, 11 April 2023, 08:49:59 »
It takes quite a while to boil pasta/noodles, even just al dente.

Tp4 times approximately:

_ 11 minutes under a roaring boil.

_ 15-18 minutes under simmer.

In order to minimize fuel use:

_ 10 minutes simmer + 5-8 minute rest in pot (zero flame), produces comparable results.

Also ensure the burner (we use gas) is not flaming out from under the pot but more concentrated under the base - tends to create the best results in speedy boil and consistency in the cook time.

Boil noodles in a pan instead of a pot. Fastest boil.

less water to heat up so it would be a bit quicker probably,

but seriously it also depends on the pasta your cooking. also if its fresh pasta or instant pasta.

Greater surface area in contact with heat source vs volume of water.
“These economic royalists complain that we seek to overthrow the institutions of America. What they really complain of is that we seek to take away their power."
He paused for a moment, then thundered, “Our allegiance to American institutions requires the overthrow of this kind of power!”
“In vain,” Roosevelt said, “they seek to hide behind the Flag and the Constitution. In their blindness they forget what the Flag and the Constitution stand for. Now, as always, they stand for democracy, not tyranny; for freedom, not subjection; and against a dictatorship by mob rule and the over-privileged alike.”
- Franklin Roosevelt 1933

I see so the water boils faster.

Does it also speed up the noodles after it goes in the water ? or is it only boosting the startup phase.

Faster boiling water = faster noodle cook and less fuel consumption. You could always add salt to the water to increase the boil temp by a little bit as well.
