Thoughts?

-Handle, No handle?
-Glass, Ceramic?
-Metal, Enamel?

Glass actually has lower thermal conductivity than ceramic, but because they are transparent they tend to look nastier.
I tend to be afraid of pouring hot liquids in glass because of regular glass is temperature-sensitive.

Perhaps the ideal mug would be made of cloudy heat-resistant glass.

Like this one? They're all Borosilicate if it's used in a mug.

It makes one wonder. Does the ideal tea exist at a constant temperature, or is the flavor an ever moving // evolving construct as the tea cools.

Interesting thought...
I usually prefer my coffee hot, but my tea lukewarm. I slurp my coffee, but sip my tea.

Definitely, tea flaover changes with temperature. Obviously, you can change the flavor by pouring boiling water right away after boiling point (which is not ideal), or pour it over 30secs later and you will already feel the difference.
Then, when in a cup, I can feel the difference, with hot tea, or lukwarm - flavor changes a bit.

I have these and like them very much

Yep, I use them too. Different shape, but double wall glass is great for keeping your beverage hot for longer. WHole life I've been using regular ceramic mugs, but about 5 years ago I bought one of those and difference is huge. They also look nice aesthetically.
I like to drink my coffee with a bit of milk, so once stirred with a teaspoon, I like to watch how it swirl inside :) Like a sandstorm! :D

My ideal mug would be an amalgam of these 2.

I prefer the blue handle because it is flat-ish in cross-section with a longer, flatter top section which makes it easier to grab and to hold - besides being more comfortable on the fingers.

But aside from the handle shape and configuration I like the clear one better because the top lip is slightly curled outward. Also the markings are pretty cool!

I am indifferent to one being slightly taller and slimmer in circumference and the other being squatter.
