Best linear switch nowadays (2026)

Hard to say what is "best" because of personal preference.  But I put my money on HMX when it comes to linear switches lately.  HMX is all about loud and clacky sound profile, though, and that's not for everyone.  They do offer a few lower pitched switches. You will have to look over the details of the plastics used, as they are usually pretty good at documenting the plastics used and the sound qualities of their switches.  MAaaaybe BSUN for lower pitched, but that can be hit or miss.

I prefer lower sounds. So oil kings gonna stay then.

It’s crazy how many people are still rocking Oil Kings, even though I’ve personally never tried them! They definitely have a massive, loyal fan base for a reason.

I tried Gateron Smoothies - jeez, what a crap of switch - I dont know what is wrong with it, but somehow it is very sluggish, it says its 40g, but feels heavier and cap doesnt return as quick as it should, like they were over-lubed. Like pressing switch submerged in thick engine oil...

It says it has double stage spring - Idont know how this is different from regular spring - does it feel like there is higher force on top, then easier in the middle and then more force at the bottom out?
Anyone, I personally am very disappointed in those - I was looking for a nice lighter version of Oil Kings and ordered these - shoked how they felt after ount just 5 of them, took off straight away.
Terrible.

I guess I better go back to Oil Kings and if I want lighter, just order some 67g or 70g 22mm long single stage springs, to have it lighter but still responsive in terms of bottom out returns.
