I read enough to see that it's for age 14-16.  So no college for him yet, I think.  Right?  Photekq, fill us in.  Enough secrets.
Uh basically the GCSEs are the end of your compulsary education. I could leave school if I wanted.

You can also go to the more low-end colleges and do simple courses such as ICT etc with just your GCSEs. However, you can also stay in school and do your A-Levels which is what I'll be doing. A-Levels are what you need to get into half decent universities/colleges.

Technically not in the mail, but I got my GCSE results today. Fairly pleased with them.

2x A*
5x A
2x B
1x C (German, the subject I've wanted to drop for the past two years)

For any Americans/others that would otherwise google it, that's General Certificate of Secondary Education.  I have no idea what it means though and I can't be bothered to read about it, so read the wiki page if you're curious.

It mean's he can go to college and is one smart guy! (maybe I have no idea)

College in the UK is different to the US. It's 2 years of more specialised stuff (usually 3 or 4 subjects) and then you either finish education or go to University.

I couldn't say no to another Dolch keyboard...deal was too good to pass up (again). There is some serious yellowing but I'll see if I can change that later. Funny thing, I asked them to just send the keyboard but they end up sending the whole Dolch Pac 64!  ^-^

Jealous! One of these days I'm going to find one on eBay that doesn't cost a million dollars to ship to AU!
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Yay!  Now I can use both my Model M (once I get replacement keycaps for the second one).
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Again, why wouldn't you just get an orihalcon SDL to USB cable for your Model M? Why would you want to get an adapter instead of a proper USB cable?

I already have one for my Model M with a SDL port.

The other had a PS/2 cable until someone chopped it off, so I made a replacement, but it is still PS/2.

Now I can use one Model M at home on my Mac, and take one to work (once I get another set of keycaps).

so does anyone else here do that with video cards? I kid you not, I had a coworker telling me he couldn't get a video card working and had two more and he was just hotplugging them into a standard desktop workstation pc.

There are some high end servers that have a software utility that allows you to toggle power to the slots on the mobo for availability and redundancy purposes. I always thought that seemed like a good idea.

Umm...

It was about US$33 via DHL... :-[  I could've gone with airmail but I would have paid for taxes and duties through the nose at the local post office...

In my computations, if I joined the GB and had it sent to my US proxy for forwarding to Manila, it would have come out more expensive because of local processing and handling fees.

P.S. I still cannot find my Beast Switch Tools...:(

inifiniti, how much was the shipping on the transparent switch tops?

Don't worry I'll let you borrow mine! :)

An empty envelope. I was supposed to receive those tools from The_Beast, but local customs or mail service did this "magic".

That's what you get for living in the middle of the fuc*ing jungle served by huehue employees.

That's also the problem of sending them in a paper envelope instead of a small bubble mailer.

That's also the problem with charging premium on shipping but using the cheapest materials available.

when I received mine the post office notified me that the tools cut open the envelope when going through a sorting machine.  The PO employees had to assemble everything, but they said it could have been easily lost in the sorting facility.

paper envelopes are good for some things.
