Got my hoods in the mail today and they don't fit the connector.

Oh well I still have the stock ones.  Looks like I will be painting those.

Damn son, those brass inserts are so crispy. I could use that as a mirror. And that grey reminds me of how they paint military ships. Pretty happy to see a project I had a small hand in come to life. Congrats :D

Battleship Grey?
unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

A Cherry G80-3000LSCEU

36011-0

Pretty clean, had a note on the interior packaging that says; "Humidity Damage*," but all the keys seem to work okay (I'm typing on it now).  Have to open it up to see how the PCB looks, that was the reason I bought this anyway.

[*Noticeably absent from the pictures in the eBay advertisement, or the ad text...]

Edit: The damned thing has MX Blues.  Easily my least favorite switch.   :blank:

Pink anodised bolts and aqua instead of yellow on the end of the cable would make this perfect!
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Lol! You still have that Filco :P Finishing up your audio set up will cost quit a bit but that purple and green is a long time coming, bro. I've already done a NERV board but if you do the purple and green, I may have to do a orange and red with a hint of green and white.

Very nice set there, are they grey with dark blue set? What set is this?

This is a graphite set. Super rare, only seen two sets for sale in the year that I've been checking the classifieds.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

It seems you have perfected your keyboard, at last! That yellow heat shrink really sticks out but I'll just pretend that's the highlight of the keyboard :P Congrats. Where do you go from here?!

Sell my Filco... finish up my audio set up...... and then........... you know........ it's purple and green.......... ;) ;)

Lol! You still have that Filco :P Finishing up your audio set up will cost quit a bit but that purple and green is a long time coming, bro. I've already done a NERV board but if you do the purple and green, I may have to do a orange and red with a hint of green and white.

Oh, I forgot! mistakemistake's new LZ's pretty much the closest thing I've seen come to being the 01 keyboard other than that one weird Filco... that looks good....................... l;sakdfja;lsdkjg;lawkjgsdgreg

Got a Poker II with MX Browns. Really enjoying the browns as it feels close to the blues I have on my Ducky. It's amazing how much space a 60% board can free up! Love it.

Also got some white PBT Keycool caps to replace the original ones on the Poker II, but unfortunately the spacebar felt really mushy for some reason. I think it might be a little warped as it wasn't sitting flat on the desk like the original spacebar was. Shame, because I really liked the blank minimalist look :(

I've since gone back to the original keycaps with the RGB modifiers... time to look for another set of keycaps!

You should definitely try the hot water straightening method on the white PBT spacebar. It does wonders for many, including me. Fortunately for me, the warped part was only aesthetic and didn't affect how it felt. It would hurt to try... unless, you burn yourself! :))

I was actually thinking about doing something like this, but didn't want to go ahead without doing a little bit of research first. Would something near boiling temperature be suitable or is that too hot?

I'm quite sure it's because it's warped slightly it feels mushy as it's pushing the stabilisers outward... here's hoping.

I did mine with a hair dryer instead of water. I think you get more control over what area you're heating

From what I remember, I believe you do it when the water is hot enough that you feel like it'll burn you but not exactly hot enough to actually burn you... :)) I don't think I worded that right but it was something along those lines. You'll probably find the thread/picture I'm talking about. The_Beast's method seems reasonable too.
