What do big big retailers pay for processors like the 3770k

I've seen 2600k go as low as $200,

That is probably still above what Microcenter for example paid for them in bulk..

So, it must be <$200  >:D

You used to be able to find 1000 unit pricing on Intel's site if I remember anything.  It's my understanding that MC sells a couple of the most popular Intel procs at a loss to get you in the door and buy other things.

Why steamed about the reality of retail markets?

I heard these sites were NOT legit...

Oh absolutely not. Why would china be stocking 20,000 US Made processors a week? That doesn't make any sense :p

However, I wouldn't be surprised if the $120 is  around what retailers pay in bulk for those processors.

I would be.   Tech is not high margin by any means, no where near that sort of margin.  Intel makes good bank on them tho no doubt there.

Retailers can take a loss on a product to get people to buy other things while they're in the store
Vendor Status: Sadly, not taking any orders/pre-orders at this time

Processor manufacturers usually lose money on consumer products and make their money on industrial applications. Intel's i series is an oddball in that it managed to make money in both respects, so I don't think they're marked up as much as these other posts suggest.
