Something that will let me merge my mind into a machine so I can live forever.

Also a keyboard made out of solid gold with MX blue switches, and each key has its own 2560x2560 customizable display key.

Hey dude, I'm an American. I'll be lucky to still have the shirt on my back by the time I'm ready to retire.

These knives...just ****ing beautiful beyong belief...

http://kramerknives.com/auctions/gallery/

I've got one of the JA Henckels licensed Kramer knives - http://www.surlatable.com/product/PRO-180374/?source=igodigital From what I can find, it's a remarkable knife that only loses luster when emotionally compared to a Kramer-crafted knife.

It's what put stitches in my finger.  Was cleaning it after cutting some potatoes.
serioustalk about the gt-r. WHAT is with the new pricing? a buddy of mine just bought one of the last of the e90 m3s (ie, he bought a new one now, and they will be winding down production quite soon). he said he would have gotten a gt-r if they were still price competitive with the m3. a hundred grand for a gt-r vs any of the competitors at under 100k? AND on top of that you get no service contract and have to bring it to nissan dealerships of all places for warranty service AND ON TOP OF THAT THEY VOID YOUR WARRANTY IF YOU TRACK YOUR CAR?!?

c'mon nissan. C'MON

I would have gotten an M3 as well. It's got to be supply and demand. Wasn't the MSRP like $75k when they came out?

They've made it a better car in the 5 years since then, one.  And two, that warranty thing only lasted about a year before the first minor update to the car and an adjustment to the warranty coverage.

An SSL Matrix recording console. It's a small home studio size 16 channel mixer. I won't get into features but it has many many bells and whistles and comes in at just around $23,000

A gt3 R makes a little sense in it's unaffordability. It's $190k with little practicality and the inability to finance it for 10-30 years like its house-esque cost would need for most people.

TJ, beautiful knife! No wonder you had to head to the hospital from a cut!

I wanted the Damascus a little more, but they were more expensive and not as sharp a blade than the carbon steel.

I figure I can save up and buy a paring knife made by him some day... (They're ~$300 an inch to have made)

I hate how they throw the damascus term on every blade that has the texture.... Damascus is a real thing and nearly impossible to reproduce....

It's like me selling regular knives with "legendary" as branding... Pure silliness for anyone who watches the discovery channel. ;D

That was another veto to the damascus.  It's not real damascus.

How old are you guys..?? most of these things are all very affordable assuming you have a basic Job in the United States.

.....Assuming no serious Obama fallout....  :D

I live in Singapore, the small area of hell where you have to fork out 90k to buy a certificate which entitles you to even own a car......before you even buy a car........ :'(

Essentially a piece of paper which is worth 90k........

Well... Come to USA, student visa, simple degree, say nursing, degree takes 2 years, $65,000 per year job on night shift, in 4 years time you can qualify for auto loans to get pretty much Any Car within $200k..

This is actually very doable... There are small downsides to this, you work with some sick people..

But in terms of "demand" and "academic rigorousness", it's all within "very possible" category.

Nursing is quite easy in books, and YOU ALREADY know english. ;D

I'm almost entirely certain your auto loan numbers are grossly overstated.

Ferrari 458 Italia? Or should I get the Avantador?  :))

EDIT: NO, settled on the Pagani Zonda

Zondas are slow now, buy a Huayra.

My dream house, quite unlikely. Without specifics I guess you wouldn't know why, so I will give a little bit detail. I would want it built on the edge of a waterfall, and have a totally stand alone and closed environment with my own hydro electric, water treatment, air filtration and so on. Only thing coming from outside would be a fiberoptic link for internet. Inside would have to be dead silent too, I don't want to hear the damn waterfall day in and out lol.

seriously, guys? something you will NEVER be able to afford?

Perhaps "NEVER be able to afford" as in "Rather spending the money on other things"?

I could afford the things I have listed some day if I'd save up,
but I rather spend my money on less ridiculous and less expensive things,
thus I will be never able to afford the expensive ones I have listed, makes sense?

That would probably change the "where do you want to live today" to "where do you want to live today that has a 10,000 ft runway"

How much space do you need?
I'm not the Sultan of Brunei, I don't need a fleet of cars, 20 rooms, and space to carry a small army.

C-130 is battle hardened, cheap, easy to get parts for, easy to work on (minimal electronics), and lands almost anywhere (even carriers). Qualified mechanics for it are everywhere.

The Antonov costs an insane amount of money to operate, has only a few places you can land, few people qualified to work on it, and if you break something, have fun finding parts or waiting for them to arrive.

(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Yea but people who could afford an antonov as a private motor home wouldn't be bogged down by service// repair costs.

That said, I am NOT so sure that an antonov would actually make a good mobile home, because it wasn't designed for "comfort"

very shaky to passengers. compared to say a commercial jet.

The trade off is most military transports can get into unimproved runways like grass and packed dirt that a commercial jet could never touch. I guess it depends on where you like to vacation.

You can't exactly make the moon look any worse. My thing is that I think it would be nice to live there. Imagine how good you would sleep at night. That and I'm sure the views are constantly stunning. But I wouldn't want to have to be in a space suit 24/7.

you can absolutely make it look worse by altering it... do you think the sahara desert would look better with a subdivision in the middle of it?

have some reverence for natural beauty... maaaaaaaaaaan.

A 50,000 sq. Mile Windows logo would also look pretty bad.

I thought the same thing until I saw the Curiosity rover pictures. Mars is a total carp-hole. Some terraforming would actually be nice, and treehuggers couldn't possibly complain about destroying the nonexistent natural beauty.

It may be fine without us, but if we are to survive as a species, at some point we have to get off this rock.

If we don't do it ourselves, at some point some natural disaster will wipe out all (at least human) life here.

Getting off this rock will only be helpful if not everyone is allowed to do so. I would worry about man made disaster wiping out the human race before any act of nature.

The answer is not to make more people and put them on Mars. The answer, is to stop making more people. Mandatory vasectomies across the globe!!! Or some sort of chemical spray that leaves us all infertile....
