So after spending a couple weeks on Chinese forums here is what I've learned:

- Based on posts I've read I'd say the most popular keyboards are in this order 1) Keycool, 2) Ducky, 3) Filco (!?)
- When a keyboard is listed as coming out at least a few people pray that a large "L" enter key will be available (!?!?)
- If pictures are posted of traditional/retro White/Gray combinations it's almost never referred to as Model-M'esque but Wyse.
- In a random sampling 2 out of 3 users prefer MX Black switches.

Very interesting on the Keycool though - I had no idea they had some sort of following.

Keycool is the first "domestic" brand that has acceptable quality, hence its popularity. The Chinese layout traditionally include the bigass enter.

It is really not bad though.
For such cheap price tag you can hands on a mechanical keyboard along with some accessories included.
I got this at roughly MYR 225.00 shipped to Malaysia, Grey PBT version.

Disregard that Dota 2 caps and lousy printing PBT RGYB ( RMB 58.00 per set )

I have to say, I do somewhat sympathize with them about the large L enter...it's actually kind of satisfying to have a huge key to slam when you finish a bit of text, and once you get used to it, it's hard to use a narrow enter key without half your text lines accidentally ending in \. That said, it has to be implemented sensibly, i.e. with a normal-sized backspace; I don't mind \ being moved, since I don't use it often, but a small backspace definitely reduces both speed and comfort.

I always liked the smaller enter key because of how much more proportioned it makes the keyboard look.

Also why I like 3 key space bar then three key window setup as well (not sure what that's called)

I'm Totally cool with the Large enter like the ISO, but not the big L enter.. that takes away too many of my precious keys...

On the Ducky vs Filco thing, I'm pretty sure that just has to do with backlighting and community involvement. Personally I'd still take a Filco over a Ducky any day of the week.

Now, if Ducky started using Costar stabs that might change...

they're a "tad" thicker.. but not as thick as the crazy thick ones from imsto/feng

Well other than completely nonsensical legending ("ABCD"? "Neptune"?! Coffee in a hexagon? Camera? Huh?) I am seriously considering trying to get my hands on one of these when I'm able. Couldn't care less about the keycaps or the rest of it. It's new MX Whites (the 65/80).

That's my deciding point too. If Ducky go Costar Stabilizer then I'm sold. It shouldn't be too hard for them to do considering both are made in Taiwan.

I think I read recently about Ducky having pissed off Costar in the past, so they won't be able to get their stabs or use them as an OEM again?

Really? Nooooooooooooooo it's literally the only thing stopping me from buying Ducky.

Looks like I have to wait for CM Storm's QuickFire XT backlit version (it's been announced by the new CM rep on this forum forgot his name, if I remember correctly the model is QuickFire XTL).

Ahhh, so that is what they mean. Living in Holland, I sometimes have to go through a lot of trouble avoiding these weird shaped enter keys. There are like three different common layouts over here. I try to stick with a general ANSI layout.

Keycool's price rance is basically between $48 to $80, while Filco's price range is $112 - $177.

I don't know why they like big "L" enter, but most of them would prefer regular enter key.

The reason that MX black is so common is because it is called "gaming switches" due to its reaction velocity, and most people are using their mechanical keyboards for gaming purpose, instead of typing.
