I found this 'beauty'
« on: Fri, 15 March 2013, 22:46:28 »
I have one problem now... I got the adapter for din5 to PS/2 and all that happens is the 3 leds flash... anyone know whats wrong?
Its not very beautiful right now... I know, but it will be in time...

Btw, that yellow on the case is SUPPOSED to be paper white, but it was apparently owned by a heavy smoker.
I was wondering a couple of things, mostly how to clean the dye-subbed keycaps (Is it different than other keycaps?)how old is it, and how much it would be worth.
I know that it has ALPS Green switches already, and they're the linear version.

May you pull a keycap for us? I've never seen that board before, though I presume that it's a MX Black board.

I pulled the Z key off earlier and it was a ALPS Green, I cant go back for it now today because I put it in the basement and its dark out.

Indeed! They feel fantastic, and I'm so patiently waiting for tomorrow to clean it up, get an adapter to PS/2, and see if it actually works.

pull out all the keycaps, get a plastic container that you can put all of them inside of it, fill up the container with warm/hot water, put the keycaps in the water and the magic thing that will clean the keycaps is dental tablets, pop inside 2 dental tablets and let it simmer for an hour. voila just rinse the keycaps after that.

There's a chicony on ebay right now...same model as the one you have in the OP and I believe it's listed somewhere near $230 shipped (which is obscene in my book).  I think you should be able to get around $100 to $125 for it.  IIRC, the yellowing of the case isn't due to cigarette smoke but the bromide used in the cases as a fire retardant.  It yellows and browns when exposed overtime to UV light. You can reverse the yellowing by retrobriting.

Thanks for the advice :) I will try this soon.

Ah, I thought it was because it was basically an ash tray under the keys... Is there any way to clean the backplate w/o damaging switches? Also, sorry for the bad grammar, on my phone right now. I'm also sorry that I'm asking so many damn questions, but I'm new and I have no idea what I'm doing, lol.

Picture of the switches, sorry about image quality.
Unfortunately, I can't get the cable off to run the case through the washing machine, I gotta do it by hand.

i find this khaki color fascinating.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

It might be that you motherboard's PS/2 port can't supply enough power for the board.  It's a common problem with modern PS/2 implementations.  You're best bet is to grab a PS/2 to USB active converter (not an adapter).

What would that do? Would it make it 6kro or something? Also, I plugged it in my main computer and the power light comes on, but no keys work.

USB port may be able to supply more power via converter for the keyboard than PS/2 port.
