A Russian beer I enjoyed the most on holiday there a week ago:

150663-0

The only British beer I liked:

150665-1

I've found a local shop filled with Belgian beer:

150667-2

Result:

150669-3
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Grad school taught me whole new levels of what alcoholism is.  So many professors are functional alcoholics.  And it all begins in grad school.

Living in military dorms for 3 years taught me. I now enjoy my beers instead of just chugging what ever is placed in front of me. Friday to Sunday drunk then Monday morning PT formation to sober up.

But I'll take that over grad school.

I can't stand writing 2 pages let alone a book.

Yeah, the answer to TPs question is likely: none. No alcoholic is keeping their fix going with >$10 a bottle sours, Belgians, and IPAs. Not to mention the difficulty in consuming large quantities of very flavorful beer. I mean, I love imperial triple ipas, but like 8-12oz at a time max.

I made the mistake of getting the yard glass of dogfish 120 at my local yardbirds grand opening. They somehow got their hands on a few kegs for the opening. Let's say I won't do it again.

Finally found a Game Of Thrones beer. Odin brewery putting out some very heady complex brews as well.

More. Coco Jones has become a favorite, along with pretty much everything Black Raven puts out. The Elysian Jasmine was extremely floral.

Yeah, the Lattitude is one of those good local finds that you keep going back for.  The Lightning is traditional but done with modern techniques and premium ingredients.
I will be trying the Christmas Bomb tonight and save the dipa for the Chargers game tomorrow.

I am a big fan of these guys 'Space Cake IPA'

But idk about this one.

I have had some pecan porters before.

Namely, 512's pecan porter and Lazy Magnolia's pecan porter.

But gotdamn it tastes like they added a thousand pounds of pecans to this batch.

Last night's beer: Prairie "Christmas Bomb".  A wonderful spiced Imperial Stout.  I love holiday stouts and this one sets the new high bar for me.  Most tend to be overly spiced or sweet and this one strikes a great balance.  Very smooth with good espresso notes and a little bit of semi sweet cocoa.  Spice on the finish is also subtle but very flavorful.

Sitting down to enjoy a great double ipa that Bromono sent me.  This thing is amazing.  Nice citrus notes and it is amazingly smooth for a double.  Not super hoppy like most west coast doubles.  I am glad these beers are hard to find here or I would go broke.

Thank you Bromono for the awesome beers.  Looking forward to your thoughts on my picks for you.

I splurged on an omnipollo noa pecan mud pie a couple of months ago and damn if it didn't ruin pecan stouts/porters for me forever. So good. But so expensive...

The best beer is a cold one... I mean, enjoy drinking craft beer on tap (not that I don't ever buy craft bottles but the best micro brew isn't really distributed. There's always growlers I guess) but at home it's whatever's cheap and available ...then again I'm an alcoholic. Anyone here brew their own beer? I've tried making mead before but that's it.
Also, there should be a scotch thread if there's not one

Just had the Hop Nookie with Thai food and watching Ohio beat Toledo.  A solid Triple that doesn't go straight malt sweet and maintains nice hoppiness.  Solid for a Triple, but not something I would go for regularly.

A local guy from my town just bought into this company. They brew most of the beer around here. Prairie just opened a huge "Brew Pub" in Tulsa. Check out his other company Choc Beer. They have a GREAT Dubbel. It is hard to find now. They do not brew it much anymore.
