Nope, but I suppose it would be like discussing evolution with a bunch of creationist fundamentalists.

You could always, you know, try discussing it rather than just being a ****.  SmallFry didn't say anything here to earn your contempt.

Functionality is sexyness to an engineer :P
I'd hate to see an engineer's wife...

LOL... I don't know though.... I can imagine some chicks being pretty hot just because they are highly functional.

Back on topic..

If one's ok with "the PERFECT"  staggered keyboard. there's the KMAC..

The GH60 is also there, for the 'MERICA  factor...

If one's more venturous and after function more than aesthetic engineering, then an ergodox would be more to tune.

Sorry oh wise ones. I obviously know not the ways of GH. Let me go encase my Filco in epoxy and set it on my shelf like a trophy, brb

No, no, no. You will learn, young apprentice.

Custom keyboards, such as KMAC, LZ, even Phantom, are to be photographed and put away, possibly enshrined in viewing cases.

Pedestrian keyboards, such as Filco, Realforce, etc. are to be used for typing. Mod those things. Cut the cases. Add LEDs. Whatever you feel like. :)
Just like high end street rod or full kustom car that's rarely driven? Possibly better to admire than actually use?

Get a room you two.

Back to the original question.

No, a KMAC is not worth it. I notice 0 difference going from my Ducky to KMAC. Infact the KMAC having black switches has made me miss the stock red switches I had in the Ducky.

But if you have the money why not?

well I already posted many alternatives to $400 expense..  let me reiterate..

3.5 BJs at atlantic city
12TB of storage for your computer
3770k processor + aftermarket cooler
7970 Graphics card
2x ergodox's
120hz 27" Asus computer monitor

KMAC as an ITEM in it of itself is every bit worth $400.... Great workmanship, great design, Open source support..

It is certainly the Best made Classic staggered keyboard in existence..

I mean.. maybe someone at lockheed martin with access to the drill, made one out of aircraft grade titanium.. But that's highly unlikely, and OMG I WANT IT..........

Buying a KMAC is like buying a Bentley instead of a Lexus, both work just fine as transportation.
Do you need a Bentley or KMAC, no, but people still want them.

It doesn't make owning one wrong, it's just a matter of whether it's worth it to you.
For some, spending $500 on a keyboard is not a big deal. For others, $500 could be two years worth of saving.

I think the bentley/lexus comparison is not applicable here..

Bentley starts at $200,000 and any non-ghetto-lexus are $100,000 start.

You compare that to a $400 keyboard... ah..... it is really hard to get $200,000 together as one expense, but $400, different story..

$500 as 2 years of savings is also a bit of a stretch... most interested parties live in developed nations...

regardless, there are always ways to get $500 very quickly... However,, getting $200,000 quickly is hard.

Everything is relative.  The people who buy bentleys wouldn't think twice about 400 bucks.  Conversely, people who can't manage to lease a kia would never dream of dropping 400 bucks on a keyboard.

No that is not true... It is the American way to spend beyond one's means, this is the heart of our economy.

the $400 they'd forgo leasing a kia may not be spent on a keyboard, but it very often goes towards items of a similar hobby nature, such as shoes (women), chrome rims, etc

all the while, these people will claim, the expense was a necessity...  ;D

Lexus only has 2 models over $100k, with most between $35k and $60k. Regardless, I could have just as easily said a Honda or Toyota compared to a Bentley. Way to miss the point.

As for the easily coming up with $500... For some people $500 is a hell of a lot of money, and more important, it's a hell of a lot of money to spend on a keyboard, especially when there are fantastic ones out there for far less than $100.

Developed countries or not, while you may be able to come up with $500 in a short period, some cannot, while others have no trouble coming up with $200k. Not everyone's disposable income is the same as yours.

You guys are arguing with tp4 about comparisons? Really, I could have ended that question at the sixth word. You have to use items he relates with, like Atlantic City BJs versus BJs from the hookers that live two apartments down from him.

I'm clearly mentioned non-ghetto lexus.. the ghetto ones are just toyotas with the lexus sticker...

Whether or not $500 is a helluvalotta of money for a keyboard is irrelavent, since $500 is not a helluvalotta money...

The typical strategy for girls is leading men on to buy them gifts, and then returning them.. very common strategy doable EVERYWHERE

A very good strategy for all genders is drug deals... You need $200 of seed money, and you can quickly amass $5000 on any college campus within a week.

You've completely skewed the difficulty in coming up with x-sums of money... $500 is doable robbing convenience stores.. i don't recommend it, but most people who do get away with it, and they get their keyboards.

200k is hard in every country.... and there are a very limited number of ways to put it together.. legally, OR illegally.

You guys are arguing with tp4 about comparisons? Really, I could have ended that question at the sixth word. You have to use items he relates with, like Atlantic City BJs versus BJs from the hookers that live two apartments down from him.

Yes but the transportation cost to Atlantic City compared to walking down two apartments... Way to make a comparison buddy. Please, kill yourself.

How come this forum doesn't have voting abilities?

jk essomenona you made me laugh earlier.

because i would be over 9000+++ in votes...

and no I don't have girls living that close to me.. unless you count all women as prostitutes, because as this one comedian said, if you have sex for any other reason than true love, you're a hooker..  and I'm calling BS if anyone claims true-love is so ubiquitous.. as ubiquitous as incidences of intercourse...

The typical strategy for girls is leading men on to buy them gifts, and then returning them.. very common strategy doable EVERYWHERE
That says a lot about the women you date.

So you only date hookers...  That pretty much solidifies my earlier comment.

Is a KMAC worth it?

I'm just going to directly answer the OP. What something is worth, is relative to your income, or how bad you want it. If money is not an issue, then it's probably worth it (assuming you can find one). If you're piss poor, but still desperately want one, then it's worth it. As long as you know exactly what it is that you're paying for, then it's all worthwhile, but if you're getting one because everyone else wants one too, then that's a ****ty reason.

I was merely mentioning quick strategies people usually use to get money..

I don't date usually.. unless you count the 2-3 hours I spend at the bar -dating-, I've got a good success rate though. average cost, 2-3 drinks.

I only mention the working-girls agenda, because so many people have misconceptions about them and look down upon them.. while they're no different in any way than any other female..

I believe it is primarily instigated by ugly women who "needs" someone to be "worse" thus feeling better about themselves..

If you are not one, I believe you should end this topic with me, as I 've got a paragraph response for anything you can possibly have to say..
