Funny Online Purchase stories
« on: Fri, 09 August 2013, 09:33:00 »
Hey people,

This thread will be for a single thing : Funny Online Purchase stories. Here, state the funny/decieving/incredibly wrong/wtf/mistakes that you did/ was the victim of from Online Purchase.

Here's mine, since it happened today i had to share,

I bought a V for Vendetta Guy Fawks Mask on eBay. Recieved it a while ago, this morning, i woke up to 18 emails from the seller asking me if i recieved the item in good shape, and if so, give him 5 star rating.

Funny thing is i already did 2 weeks ago.

Lol.

I can't find the photo but I once ordered a bunch of stuff from Staples and the single sharpie I ordered was back ordered so it came separately in a huge box.

Actually reminds me of the time I requested a lanyard from Mushkin. I offered to pay but they insisted on it being free. Needless to say, a few weeks later I got a large flat rate box on the doorstep and whaduya know, it's filled with bubble packing things an just a lanyard lol. COMPLETE overkill that made my day.

Hahaha made me laugh.

Here's another one;

>> Ordered 105$ worth of stuff with friends on dx.com (which is **** btw never again)
>> Order confirmed, Payment Confirmed, Shipping Confirmed.
>> Shipping option : Assemble everything in one single parcel (Cause here in Canada the more parcels you recieve the more you pay (Political Robbery))
>> A month pass, they e-mail me "The package was destroyed due to poor handling, we will send brand new stuff"
>> wat.wat ok wtv
>> Another month passes by, same e-mail "Package was poorly processed again, lost and no one knows where to locate it"
>> Areyou****tingme.lol
>> "One item is Out Of Stock, would you rather wait, have a refund or ship in multiple package?"
>> "I'll wait since i want the item (It was a cender) And NO MULTIPLE PACKAGES"
>> Two weeks passes
>> "Olol sorry customer we will not have any in stock anymore it's discontinued" then refunds me the 1.22$
>> About a month later i receive 3 parcels. That cost me three times the fkin "Dédoinage" sale tax fee.

All in all we received our items about 3 month late and with missing stuff, most of the items broke first-use and i will never ever again buy anything from these sleazy mother****ers.

I bought an intel 6300 for $38,  They sent me a box of 10 cards.

I totally won the internet that day.

BUT.... because I'm honest, I called them back to return them.  They said they'd email me a label, but this email never got to me.

SO... I called back a SECOND TIME... they said, yea yea, we'll get to it... again, never got the label

F U,  I try to do the right thing TWICE to their benefit and I get treated this way.

Finally I've just been giving these things away.. :))

I've actually only got 1 left, gave the rest away already.

No problem sending it out to you guy, 1 guy.

You guys have to decide amongst urselves.

I can't do the decision here, or I'd be accused of favoritism or TROLLING as usual, or something crazy like I'm covering up my trolling by offering prizes...  >:D

$200 and putting 9 things in 9 diff envelopes and writing out 9 diff addresses and putting on 9 to 18 stamps and going back and forth to the mailbox 9 times, not worth it to me.

there was 9 to give away in the beginning, but this was a year ago, i've already given 8 away.

I don't claim to be particularly Moral, but the only thing that is of temptation to me would be 9 extra ergodoxes.

I have no use for 9x of any other item.

The reason why they have never got back to you is because the items are yours. If a package or items get delivered to your house either by mistake or on purpose, you are allowed to keep it. I remember ordering some household items from Amazon, and for some reason they delivered a pallet of Dewalt drills along with it. I contacted them and they said "it's probably a gift from someone, you can either keep it or get a refund for money." I had no clue what to do with a pallet of ****ing drills, and even less of a clue of how to mail them back. I decided to just keep them, and give most of them away.

dang.. a pallet of drills.

That would be an interesting talk topic,

You show the guy the garage, and there's a pallet of identical drills on the wall.

And the guy's like, why do you have so many..

and you'd be like..  Yea I hold 2 in each hand,  Quad weildin, master-chief can suck it... :D

No, it's not true. You do not need to notify anyone. You are allowed to keep all items that are delivered to you (under your name and address), regardless of whether you paid for it or not because of "finders, keepers."

5ghz is a sham,  you have to be 10-20 feet from the router to get better speeds than 2.4ghz

and 5ghz is terrible without line of sight.  >:D  Damn you Asus, you tricked me.

At that range, if you really NEED speed just use a wire..

I bought some shotgun shell holders for my belt from a rather shady looking (but US based) site once because I couldn't find the ones I wanted anywhere else. Everything seemed to go smoothly, except I never got a tracking number or shipping notification, and in two weeks I still hadn't received the items. I tried to contact the company through every method they had on their site and none of them worked, so I disputed the payment with Mastercard and got my money back.

About one week later my package showed up in the mail.

I tried to contact the company again and still got no response, and Mastercard told me that if the company didn't ask for the money within a certain number of days then it was mine. They never did, so I got $100 worth of shell holders free.

Lucky...

Eh, well this isn't funny but it was pretty cool. I used to play a lot of MTG and would order boosters like a fat man orders extra cheese. In one of the orders I bought 6 boosters of 8th edition because they were 50% off at the time, so 2.49 each. A few weeks later I got this huge box in the mail containing 6 BOXES of 8th edition . Went back to check that I didn't make a mistake and get charged for boxes instead, and I didn't. And that's how I got 216 booster packs for $15.

Tales of ordering from China.

I ordered a special drive bracket from China.
After 3 weeks I got worried, but I have had things take 45 days before (HOW?!). At the 30 day mark it showed up, in Chicago, and 2 days later back in China. Okay, so how come it took 30 days to get to Chicago, but only 2 days to get back? I don't understand that. As I'm writing the seller, he writes me. Apparently for some reason his whole shipment was returned, for no reason given. So we work it out, that I still want it, it's the only place to get that part. He takes a few days to find a new shipper and once shipped I get it 5 days later. By now, the part was in U.S. stores and I could get it in 2 days for only $1 more.

Another time I ordered 2 parts, from 2 stores, both are in Shanghai, and both used the same post office, the same day, within 2 hours of each other and used the same shipping. One part got here in 5 days, the other took 28 days.

Not sure what your laws are in the US, but if you have alerted them and its been (either 7 or 14 days) they're yours to keep, or if you don't tell them in 1 month the same outcome, they become property of tp-industries.

is this true? this reminds me o the fake cheque deposit

I was told by my branch manager, “You’re safe to start spending the money, Mr Combs. A cheque cannot bounce after 10 days. You’re protected by the law.”

No, it's not true. You do not need to notify anyone. You are allowed to keep all items that are delivered to you (under your name and address), regardless of whether you paid for it or not because of "finders, keepers."

There was a better source somewhere that explains everything, but I don't remember it.

Yes, what I said is true thank you very much, I maybe wrong about the exact dates the the principles are the same. Hopefully you picked up on the fact I'm not talking about the US.

I guess I can't read then. At least I have an excuse of English being my sixth language.

What? Kids learn and forget fast. I forgot two of the languages I learned as a kid. I can still understand one of them when people are talking, but I have no clue how to speak it.

I wonder if its a matter of ship vs plane?

I thought so too, but that doesn't entirely explain things. How did the boat go to Chicago customs, I mean you can do it*, but typically it goes to the west coast. Also, both were shipped from the same post office, the same day, mailed only about 2 hours apart and used the same shipping method, I.E. both went first class as opposed to one going express and the other going first class. If one went by boat, they both should have and realistically even been on the same boat, probably even the same container.

*Large cargo ships typically can't go through Panama Canal (at least until it;s upgraded) and certainly cannot traverse the Mississippi.

I was just kidding I don't need a 6300 :P

My ultrabook has a 6205 in it now, worth it to swap to a 6300?

I believe it does. Faster overall. (also 5GHz support i think).

6205 already does 5Ghz

Thanks for the Intel i didn't know.

Any idea what model first introduced 5GHz technology @ Intel?

5ghz is a sham,  you have to be 10-20 feet from the router to get better speeds than 2.4ghz

and 5ghz is terrible without line of sight.  >:D  Damn you Asus, you tricked me.

At that range, if you really NEED speed just use a wire..

Hum... there's something you might need to know,

Using 5GHz Technology and upcomming 802.11AC norm, wireless communication will be faster than standard cooper CAT5 and CAT6 cables. Maybe not as fast as Optic Fibre, but it is much more convenient as an update instead of re-wirering an entire building.

2.4GHz is still very decent speed but it'll mostly be used for public wireless in the upcomming years. Just use multiple repeaters (probes) and you can have a decent 5GHz coverage.

Anyway, y'all need to post more funny online buying stories gogogogogo.

It took several years for draft n to get into full swing.

Even if you cut that time in half, we're still talking about at least 2-3 years on AC.

Not to mention it's nothing remotely near gigabit if you get a wall in there, especially on 5ghz.

Gigabit wired, you can Have TODAY..  it is absolutely worth it, even the hassle.

That or wait 2-3 years.     If you feel like you CAN wait that long, then you probably DO NOT need the speed.

i ordered some weathertech floor mats a while back directly from their site.  for those who don't know what weathertechs are, they are stupidly expensive floor guards that are specifically molded to the floor of your car.  they can hold a lot of dirt and water which is great for winter.

ANYWAY, i placed the order but they took their sweet time shipping it/billing my card.  it took them like 3 weeks.  during that time period, my xbox 360 account got compromised and someone charged a couple hundred dollars of games on it.  i filed a claim with my bank and they said not to worry and that everything would be taken care of.  the floor mats finally got shipped and charged but my bank reversed EVERTHING (including my stupid $180 mats) after they were shipped.  i called up weathertech and the customer support said they were getting paid regardless and not to worry about it.  so in the end, i got a bunch of free xbox games that were linked to my account, MS points and free floor mats for my car.  :thumb:
