Lesliann is right, and you're getting pwned in this thread... At 579kB/sec, it would have taken less than 8 sec to download that 4MB. That Mac had just started the download and was still finding peers to connect with.

Alright I have a question. Been using torrents for years. How does seeding benefit ME exactly?

EDIT: In other words, is it just a courtesy thing?

Trackers can blacklist you, then your download speed drops. The reason they do this is that its not all about you.

depending on a tracker, your input/ouput ratio and your outbound traffic size may give you benefits. it depends on tracker's rules.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

The largest population of torrenters download small rips through "Public" trackers.

Because the files are small, it is ok to have many leechers without seeders, because even with low bandwidth, it is enough to disseminate complete copies of the file out to everyone.

However, when the files are Large,  it is impossible to maintain public torrents, because of bandwidth limitation.

Large means one complete file is ~30Gigs,   You'll notice that these torrents die very quickly. whereas a 700mb rip will be around for years and years and years.

And the fact that you obscured the filenames, because we only use BitTorrent to download legal files, don't we children?

We use bit torrent to -Illegally- download "LEGAL" files.

However, since the jury is still out on file sharing ip rights at the moment... it is not completely-illegal..

Or perhaps the Mac user doesn't have a fast internet connection?? I can't download faster than 3 Mbps - I live in a rural area and have no other options for internet. It's certainly not a limitation of the OS. I guess I should know better than to reply to one of tp4's threads. Just feeding the troll :D

I am really starting to see why certain people don't "get me", and the word troll constantly hangs around their mouths.

They really are just stupid, LOL.... :D

The fact that they don't understand the blatant sarcasm in the OP...

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA..  this whole time I was giving them the benefit of the doubt that perhaps they are indeed intelligent haters, but that doesn't seem to be the case...

point and laugh at the people below...  :)) :)) :))

Lesliann is right, and you're getting pwned in this thread... At 579kB/sec, it would have taken less than 8 sec to download that 4MB. That Mac had just started the download and was still finding peers to connect with.

Well, IMO if you have to announce after the fact that something was posted in sarcasm, that's an OP fail on your part. Emoticons were invented to serve a legitimate need in the digital age. My default approach is to assume that things are posted here in earnest, unless there are cues to tell me differently. A good example is the "Sifo doing random things" picture thread. Clearly a silly and cheeky Sifo roast and "all look same" send-up.

Really, your last post is like a stand up comedian who is bombing on stage, and starts calling the audience idiots for not "getting it." It's certainly not going to improve your reputation around here.

How old are you, LOL...

There's no stage... there is no "performance", This has all just been my-ramblings.  I need no accolade..

and Techno Trouser.. should I include you in my dummies list,

Because the sarcasm is Blatant to any seasoned computer user...

I used to be 14 years old myself, and even at that point I would've understood that the OP here was sarcasm.

Alright I have a question. Been using torrents for years. How does seeding benefit ME exactly?

EDIT: In other words, is it just a courtesy thing?
depending on a tracker, your input/ouput ratio and your outbound traffic size may give you benefits. it depends on tracker's rules.

Large means one complete file is ~30Gigs,   You'll notice that these torrents die very quickly. whereas a 700mb rip will be around for years and years and years.
get yourself a russian visa and discover normal internets.
your chinese passport is better for this.

Yea, I noticed that Russians seem to have the highest speeds on the torrent scene right now.

Everyone's pulling at least 7MB/s

They get dibs too, cuz they can connect to each other, even thought I can DL at 11MB/s, I only get 5MB/s most of the time when the original torrent comes out of Russia... They holdin out on us.
