I broke my 1150 Mobo, and went to microcenter to buy a new one, they ALREADY phased them out, only had like 3 to pick from!

So i said Fuxx it and just did a complete 1151 upgrade, had to buy the 6700k, the Maximus VII and the DDR4.

Posted most of these specs in the Post Your Rig thread, but I think I'll go into a bit more detail here.

  • Asus M5A97 R2.0 with stock heatsink on the VRM (this is actually enough for overclock to 4.0GHz, and this board is just over 100 bucks)
  • 2x4GB G.Skill Ares DDR3 1600 RAM at 9-9-9-24
  • AMD FX 6300 processor overclocked to 4.0Ghz
  • Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo
  • Sapphire Radeon R9 280 Overclocked to 975 MHz core (no overclock on the VRAM) with custom fan profile (courtesy of MSI Afterburner)
  • Seasonic S12-II Power Supply 520 watt (80+ Bronze, but surprisingly close to Silver)
  • Coolermaster HAF 922 (generation 1) case with aftermarket Mega Flow 200mm side fan
  • Standard 24x SATA DVD Burner whose brand I can't remember
  • Western Digital Black 1TB SATA III drive (main drive, oh how I ache for an SSD)
  • Western Digital Caviar Blue 320GB SATA II drive (secondary drive, used for storing important files)
  • Windows 10 Home Premium

Posted a pic in another thread but i didn't see this one until it got posted in again.
Just a budget gaming rig that i went with a white theme for.

Gigabyte UD3 board
AMD fx6300 at 4.5 for my everyday clock, i have gotten it to 5Ghz with reasonable voltage but my board isn't stable.
An enermax White cluster cpu cooler.

HyperX Fury 16 GB kit at 1866 but when i push my front side bus up for a high overclock i've had it up at 2100 , just had to slightly loosen the timings.

A SAPPHIRE R9 285 that i pulled apart and used some white vinyl dye on the shroud.
An old 120 GB OCZ Vertex 2  that's somehow holding on strong after 9 TB's of total writes ( i dont think many of the vertex 1 or 2 series are  left out there )
1 TB WD blue
Inside a fractal design core series case.

And an EVGA 430 watt psu that somehow handles all of the overclocking i have forced it to go through. I think the most i've seen with a power meter is 80% load. Stock clock my system pulls about 300watts full load. Which is more than id like to put on a 430 watt psu, but temps and voltage stays stable.

I have a low power server too but it's nothing to special, though it only pulls 19 watts idle, 50 full load.  Its an integrated atom board with a stock HP case and psu with 4 2 TB Seagate barracuda's in two separate Raid 1 configs for reliability.... seagate baracuda and reliability dont belong in the same sentence but that's why i got them cheap.
