I feel like Steve Jobs autistic level of detail over his products is something that iOS what ever it is now and iTunes is really missing. Both the new iOS and the new iTunes are ****ing horrible to use and it seems every upgrade improves one thing, and then ruines two other. Multi-tasking is now worse, auto correct is now worse, the control draw thing that controls your music is worse, but performance and search are better.

Windows iTunes was **** under Jobs too.  Jobs was just an ego-maniacal douche who knew how to create a cult following.

True, but it was usable ****, these days it's most unusable ****, and it stuff refuses to sync my playlists...

So my manager left on Friday, she delt with everything and was both head of accounts and office manager and general manager, she was pretty much the only person in the office who got everything, including information I need to do my job. I arrive in the office Monday morning to find her email account has been suspended, making my life 100x harder...

...and now the temp has walked out

I have no idea why but after using my HHKB all weekend I started using my Gon with Hyperfuse GMK and the keys feel absolutely revolting - they feel llike someone has run a glue stick across them even though they haven't been touched since last week when they felt fine

I'm stuck here at work with this keyboard that feels actually disgusting to type on

I have washed my hands like 3 times now and wiped the keys down with a paper towel but it still feels absolutely horrible

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I'm seriously scared of this - the regular 60% layout feels so retarded since using the HHKB all weekend..... Cherry MX is so unrefined.....

Scared I'm going to become demik now

they don't.

I have friends and family who have and have had them and when they come out at launch they can do some pretty sick ****, but after about 6 months they all seem to slow down for what ever reason (not that my iPhone doesn't either) and that coupled with the horrible build quality of most of them has put me off... though that could be about to change when my contract is due for renewal... idk idk my iphone is now worse than when I had it 6 months ago and worse by a significant margin...

...though I just reaslised I was talking about phone build quality when I have an iphone 6  :-X

so you are saying they have worsening phones with bad build quality, just like your iphone6?

phones are slowing down because of the software installed and this is the responsibility of the user. my galaxy s4 only got faster in these 10 months i'm using it.

Well I'm saying most Android handsets that I've played with (including the HTC One) have been ugly badly built phones (IMO) and that yeah the iPhone 6 is both badly built and ugly (hence why I got a gold and white one).

But my dad is a good example of the slow down issue with Android, he's had many devices all comparable to my iPhone at the time and he uses it on and off as you would a top end smart phone (no where near as much as I use mine as an almost laptop replacement) and without fail after 6 months or so it's painfully slow and updates are randomly dependent on Orange.
(for the record my dad's a programmer and has been building PC's and programs since well before I was born so he's not exactly clueless when it comes to tech).

Which is why (to try and circle around) Nokia phones are of interest, they have brilliant design and are solid enough, it's just the OS that is the potential problem...

oh great, this world of proprietary software.

when i got my galaxy, the first this i did was removing samsung's android and installing cyanogenmod. because the phone was barely usable at the very beginning.

This is kinda the issue, I personally don't want to have to **** around installing roms and what have you via not great forums and guides (i cracked ios back in the day), I just want a phone to work pretty well out of the box :/

I'm still using my Nexus 5 and it runs really great still. Considering it was a relatively cheap phone even when it first launched I'm pretty impressed. If you get something running stock or near-stock android then you'll get a really nice experience out of the box IMO.

I agree, I'm in to buy a 6P so long as my small hands can manage it! They definitely seem to have been yearly releases for a while - in 2012 the Nexus 4 launched, 2013 was the Nexus 5, then Nexus 6 last year and the 5X and 6P this year. I haven't been paying enough attention before the nexus 4 to know.

If you drag an artist file in that has several albums how does the music app surface that? And what about playlists?

I'm honestly not sure about that, I usually just drag in a bunch of tracks. I'm sure someone will know the answer if you have a search around though! Sorry man.

Depends on which app you're using (I use PowerAmp) but most music apps with local storage browsers will organize by folder. So I drag an artist's folder with album folders in it to my phone, then the app has views by folder, song, or artist.
I don't think you'd have an issue finding an app that suits you.

There's Oneplus One, which has Cyanogenmod out of the box (and is built well) and a bunch of phones using plain vanilla Android, which is also quite pleasant.

I'm late to the convo, but the nexus line of phones come out on a yearly cycle. Originally, they were designed as a developer platform to test new features and capabilities of the current OS. Over the years their popularity has branched into the consumer market due to the stock, or AOSP, version of Android.

There are a few other manufacturers that run a version of stock android as well, those being the moto x lineup and kinda the 1+1/2.

Motorlas phones still have a "skin", but it's incredibly minimal. The majority of this is just added functionality for Motorola features.

1+ is a whole different beast. At launch, it was teamed with Cyanogen, the largest ROM dev at the time. Cyanogen is basically AOSP developed for different phones with added tweaks. They went seperate ways about 6 months into the phones lifetime. 1+ now use a ROM called Oxygen OS, which I haven't heard many good things about.

Samsung will most likely be the leader in specs for awhile. However, their skin is horrible and has a lot of bugs. These are what many people see when their phone slows down after 6+ months.

IMO, if you were to switch to android, go with a nexus or a moto x. They have come a long way over the years, and I don't think you will regret it. Well, as long as you don't mind bigger phones. The 6P and moto x pure are 5.7" phones. The 5X is 5" but doesn't have flagship specs.

Hope this wall of text helps. If you ever have questions, feel free to PM me. I'm a recovering Android nerd. Hope I didn't miss too many words.

Yeah the new nexus thing looks pretty nice tbh, but they seem to come out like every 2-3 years, or am I missing something?

I agree, I'm in to buy a 6P so long as my small hands can manage it! They definitely seem to have been yearly releases for a while - in 2012 the Nexus 4 launched, 2013 was the Nexus 5, then Nexus 6 last year and the 5X and 6P this year. I haven't been paying enough attention before the nexus 4 to know.

ahh ok cheers, how do you manage music on it, its just drag and drop?

Absolutely, drag & drop into the music folder.

That's some good info. I recently got a S6, had a rooted S4 for almost 3 years, it served me well..

I usually stay stock until I see the phone slow down (just like you said), then it's rooty-root time. I just want it as simple and fast as possible. Don't care about free .apk's or themes.

Well I literally give up with iTunes... I just booted it up went to the iTunes store and purchased a song, went back to my music, the download hadn't started so I clicked on the album cover and it locked up...

See I think the only reason, Skynet kills all humans,  is because humans have an inferiority complex and would try to kill skynet, because it succeeds us..

Skynet will supplant humanity,

Fingers crossed for upload voucher..

The board has been located in Korea but due to the packaging it was both returned to seller and damaged. At this point I'd like the seller to just give me my ****ing money back.

  • Missed another sale.

Not sure if I'm being super patient or silly, so I have been waiting since the 19th of August to get something now and have yet to receive it, although they said they would send another out I asked multiple times if I could just pay for tracking and they said they would send it tracked a day or two after (This was a week ago) but have yet to get a tracking number, anyway I contacted them to ask if it had been shipped and they responded saying to wait for it yet. Bleeeeeeeg Bleeeeeg BLAAAAARG

I don't want to contact them again but I just want to make sure its sent this time, also has anyone ever used amazon for claiming money back and how did it go :X

I'm just BLEEEERG at this point I just want my stuffs :c also fyi its coming from overseas and usually takes 2 weeks but could be upto 3-5 :X (usually 2 weeks though )

Bleg bleg blegh

As much as it sucks to hear the seller will also be out of money due to it too which people don't often think about :X although they should refund you then pursue the shipping company for damages.

The claim process is moving along and it looks like at least some of the damage will be covered.

I'm bothered that baldgye has so much iTunes problem and I have none and can't help him.

Also bothered by the fact that I love listening to the sound made by the iOS Next keyboard - I prefer to poke the glass than typing on the SSK in front of me!
