Yeah the new nexus thing looks pretty nice tbh, but they seem to come out like every 2-3 years, or am I missing something?
I agree, I'm in to buy a 6P so long as my small hands can manage it! They definitely seem to have been yearly releases for a while - in 2012 the Nexus 4 launched, 2013 was the Nexus 5, then Nexus 6 last year and the 5X and 6P this year. I haven't been paying enough attention before the nexus 4 to know.
ahh ok cheers, how do you manage music on it, its just drag and drop?
Absolutely, drag & drop into the music folder.
If you drag an artist file in that has several albums how does the music app surface that? And what about playlists?
I'm late to the convo, but the nexus line of phones come out on a yearly cycle. Originally, they were designed as a developer platform to test new features and capabilities of the current OS. Over the years their popularity has branched into the consumer market due to the stock, or AOSP, version of Android.
There are a few other manufacturers that run a version of stock android as well, those being the moto x lineup and kinda the 1+1/2.
Motorlas phones still have a "skin", but it's incredibly minimal. The majority of this is just added functionality for Motorola features.
1+ is a whole different beast. At launch, it was teamed with Cyanogen, the largest ROM dev at the time. Cyanogen is basically AOSP developed for different phones with added tweaks. They went seperate ways about 6 months into the phones lifetime. 1+ now use a ROM called Oxygen OS, which I haven't heard many good things about.
Samsung will most likely be the leader in specs for awhile. However, their skin is horrible and has a lot of bugs. These are what many people see when their phone slows down after 6+ months.
IMO, if you were to switch to android, go with a nexus or a moto x. They have come a long way over the years, and I don't think you will regret it. Well, as long as you don't mind bigger phones. The 6P and moto x pure are 5.7" phones. The 5X is 5" but doesn't have flagship specs.
Hope this wall of text helps. If you ever have questions, feel free to PM me. I'm a recovering Android nerd. Hope I didn't miss too many words.
