Have to take my van to dealership bc nobody else is able to figure out the problem.

Now sitting at the dealership waiting for them to figure it out I'm getting a migraine. Bright lights, loud talking, odor of burned coffee, and loud TV of waiting room aren't helping either.

Edit: now I open my laptop to try to get some work done before my head gets really bad and I find one of my liquid pills somehow fell down between the screen and keyboard:

Guys, if you pray, please do a little for me. Dealer said we need a new transmission. $4800. Gotta figure out what to do.
Get a mortgage on one of the children?

Ugh that's awful.  :'(

I'm sure the dealership accepts trade-ins on kids.

But seriously, that's a rough place to be in.  It might be worth to see the trade-in-value of the van and get a certified pre-owned car with a warranty or a cheap new car.  If you can get the difference between the car's value and the cost of repair or more in trade-in-value, it's probably worth getting a new car.

And I realized I worded that oddly, so I mean something like if the sale value of the repaired car is $10k, repair is $5k, and they'll give you $5k or more, trade it in.

:/

Thanks guys for the kind words and thoughts.

Our finances are very different from most people's (too complicated to explain); just have to figure a way through this.  Thanks!
I'm back.

I'm having to set up about 130 brand new S5s for a big roll out at work. There are another 400 in our stores that we will have to do at another time, but I've no idea when. Apparently people are unable to do the initial setup on their phones anymore.

Also, this Google Chrome update that has ****ed Java means we get a million people calling us about not being able to log in remotely. Sigh.

You shouldn't care what other people think. Strangers, friends, family, none of them. Be who you are, and give zero ****s. That's the only way to be happy about who you are.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Only my second time driving and I almost flipped my dads Landrover. Turned too far right towards a hill, dad said to hit brakes, missed brakes and hit gas, shot up the side of a hill, quickly turned left, got off the hill and into the other lane of traffic, a pick up truck was coming in the other lane, but I was able to move into the proper lane in time

Yeah, my dad uses both feet to drive, but he forced my brother to use only his right foot. The Landrover had a really sensitive gas pedal, and it launches forward when you slightly press it down, so now I will keep my foot more towards the brake instead of the gas, so when I need to think fast and push straight down, it goes to the break and not the gas.

Most people use two feet to drive haha though I guess in an auto it's not a big deal

Left foot breaking in an auto to increase traction through corners and make sure you get on the gas faster. I think early AWD racing drivers started this but I'm not sure also sometimes the foot well is just so small that you need to use both feet due to a lack of space.

Or a heel toe shift where you press all three pedals at once.  :p

Down shifting while braking, so clutch in while braking, rev match, clutch out. You keep braking the entire time but you stay in the best gear for the speed. Your toes are pressing the brake and your heel/ right side of foot is pressing the gas to rev match.

Double clutch?

It is a shifting technique used on unsynchronized transmissions and isn't required on any modern transmission but some people use it to rev match upshifts and downshifts. Basically as you shift into neutral in-between the gears you let the clutch out to rev match then you push the clutch back in as you shift back into gear. As I said, it's mostly useless on modern transmissions except unsynchronized transmissions like the ones in trucks.

Why isn't there a GH after dark thread? There should be? I need to vent my intoxicated thoughts. Not that I am, I'm allegadly drunk right nnow.  ;)
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

About 7 years ago I used to get drunk and post my thoughts on forums.... I don't go to those forums any more.

In saying that +1 there should be an intoxicated only thread, only for the drunk where TOS do not apply  ;D

i need to vent.

THIS COUNTRY ****ING SUCKS

okay, now i'm fine.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

i'm a bit distracted by the police not doing what they told me they will do.

and a bunch of other things.

yesterday a palestinian immigrant who lives here for 40 years told me that i just have to adapt to the system. probably he is right.

i'll post the list of things that bother me here later.

Just post in the church, no one goes there anyway

Seriously though, you can make an allegadly drunk rambling thread if you'd like, as long as it doesn't break ToS.    :-*

Since you mentioned TOS...

I am mildly bothered by the discrepancy between the TOS's guidelines about "inappropriate language" versus what is actually practiced in the forums (particularly off-topic threads). Some people seem to curse profusely in nearly all of their posts, and I've never seen any moderation occur in this regard.

I don't want to be a stick in the mud; I'm a big boy and I can handle seeing foul language, but it kind of discredits the whole TOS when parts of it go unenforced. If cursing is now allowed, the TOS should be updated to reflect that.

This was meant to be constructive, please take it that way. Thanks!!!
