For some time now, when I attempt to attach a photo to a post, a 505 error returns.
It is hard to imagine a candidate more unworthy to serve as president of the United States than Donald Trump. He has proved himself morally unfit for an office that asks its occupant to put the good of the nation above self-interest. He has proved himself temperamentally unfit for a role that requires the very qualities — wisdom, honesty, empathy, courage, restraint, humility, discipline — that he most lacks.
Those disqualifying characteristics are compounded by everything else that limits his ability to fulfill the duties of the president: his many criminal charges, his advancing age, his fundamental lack of interest in policy and his increasingly bizarre cast of associates.

sigh, here comes my depression again. sabotaging everything I've done over the last year.

I either need a lightning bolt of sheer luck to recharge my life, or get my affairs in order, because I cannot keep living this cycle for another 20 years.

The kitchen aid pasta rollers keep going on sale.  But How often will Tp4 put in that kind of effort?

NE1 daily drive the pasta rollers?

No, I seldom eat pasta because of carbohydrates ....
And I much prefer rice or potatoes, but, that said, home made pasta is Excellent!
I have always had good luck with Kitchenaide gear (although most of mine is years or decades old).

I used to have a pasta maker and bread maker, and used both multiple times a week. It will totally get you off store-bought carbs because the quality of fresh is 1000x better.
Man, I was fat though. I lost like 30lbs in 6 months after giving them away to a friend.

I don't know how people don't like pasta it's so good, plus it pairs so well with sauces cause of how nice the texture of pasta is. Rice is also great as well, and in complete meals it's also amazing as well.

I've never actually tried homemade pasta except for this sweet potato gnocchi that was delicious might have to make it at home (not sure how good I would be at it though)

wholewheat pasta is a great source of fibre
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Brocolli = King fibre.

It's more than about having the most fibre, it has to be palatable.

Tp4 would also argue, whole-wheat isn't necessary if you get lots of fruits/veggies every meal.

Interviewed today for a position that is 10PM to 7AM
The guy was trying to sell me on the freedom of those hours, how the job comes with a paid hour lunch and full access to the cafe, but I'm sitting there like 'Everything will be closed at 2AM for lunch, and the cafe closes at 5'

In the Winter, at best, I'll be getting just about an hour of sunlight a day if I sit next to the window of the bus on my ride home. The last guy who had the position just died from a heart attack, which is why they were looking to fill.

It's just red flags everywhere, and here I am just wanting to make enough to afford both food and rent. Life is unyielding and cruel.

WTH??

A study of 4,800 adults aged 40-80 years old, external, led by the University of Tor Vergata in Rome, and presented at the European Congress on Obesity, looked at an alternative - measuring body fat percentage.

Just 38% of the men and 41% of the women had a BMI above 30 - but when their body fat percentage was calculated using scans, 71% and 64% were found to be obese.

So the real-obesity rate is ~60-70% of the adult population in developed countries?

Italian medical is, considered top notch, so it's unlikely they messed this up.

Did you watch the videos phinix? It's a pretty cool technology.

Tp4 is iffy on made-in-japan for radiological reasons. Buhhh Korea brand Cuchen has a 2.1 Atmosphere (30 PSI) pressure induction model. That's pretty cool.  ALTHOUGH from research, cooking with so much pressure might not be ideal for the rice, but having the function makes it versatile.

Then there's Cuckoo, also Korea, also make pressure induction models, seems pretty gud', but notably replacement parts/ repair is problematic, same with Cuchen.  They don't have the durability down yet.

IDEALLY, we'd want the high-end Chinese cookers to come to the western market. No radio-contamination, and probably at least 30% cheaper..

What am I missing out on using a pot to cook my rice? Rince, 2 cups water, 1 cup rice, add salt, bring to simmer, cover for 15 min, off heat for 5 minutes, fluff and serve. What would a rice cooker change if I already enjoy the texture of my rice?

For decades I have been using a steamer like this one, and I get great rice, although perhaps not usually sticky enough for sushi.

The main thing I like about mine is having access to warm rice all day. You can make some in the morning, and if you are puttering around the house all day, it keeps it moist and fluffy so you don't need to reheat. Also, just generally more automatic. Because it has internal sensors, I just fill it and walk away until I hear it play Greensleeves. No stirring, no lids, no drips, no overboil.

2:1 ratio for rice is just wrong, idk where this lie perpetuated from. WAY too much water with a 2:1
I will concede maybe a ricemaker locks in more moisture, but I did a lot of experimenting before settling on a 1.25:1 ratio, and cannot imaging 3/4 cup is evaporating away every time

I do around 1.1:1 water to sushi rice ratio.

There's no correct amount, you add a bit more or less depending on texture preference, cooking time, evaporation, humidity, type of rice, moisture lvl of rice (age/condition of rice).

Cool, so tp, help me with this one - this is sushi rice - cooked in those proportions, rinse like 15 times till water is not misty anymore, then keep it for 20 minutes in cold water, then bring to boil under lid, low simmering for 15 minutes, then gas off, keep under lid for next 15 minutes, then take out. Basically those steps are taken from the rice box instructions.
Rice comes always so freaking sticky that it very hard to spread over nori. It pisses me off, tried different cooking timings, diff amount of water etc
I know obviously sushi rice is supposed to be sticky, but when I wtch people on YT doing sushi, it is not that bad. I even tried different rice brands.
I use wet hands to spread, but they would need to be seriously wet to avoid rice to stick, which is bad as I then transfer water to nori, that gets soggy and everything goes to bin...

Sometimes I think I should just get a rice cooker...

When washing rice, you want to use cold/room temp water, and only gently swirl them, do not grind them in your hands, which will lead to more grains cracking. Soak for at least 1 hour, overnight if you can wait till next day. Do not use warm water.

Are you using the cold vinegar+sugar spread to toss the rice after you get it out of the pot? That should make it easier to work with.

Getting the right rice is important. For Sushi.  Tp4 recommends 50% of a (cal rose) variety, and 50% (sweet rice).

Do not buy on amazon at these ridiculous prices, Look for asian grocery stores, they got rice like this for much cheaper. For example, 50% of something like this, Sekka and 50% this, Sanpatong

Rice cooker will make this a bit easier, as long as you get a neuro fuzzy logic model.

You do not need japan radiation $3-500 rice cooker. Tp4 can't in good conscience recommend them due to radiological concerns, but there is no denying they are very good rice cookers.

Zojirushi has models that are made in China, and they're cheaper.

LOL, it should say bitter melon on the little sign they put on the rack.

It's bitter because it's highly alkaline. Supposed to be cancer busting, but the chinese say this about literally everything they eat.  Anecdotal, but the Japanese centenarians (Okinawans), also swears by bitter melons (in preventing cancer).

But this stuff falls into the category of, oh yea, eat this Swallow spit, 燕窝 (bird spit), totally prevents cancer,  yea, because Evolution, would design Monkeys to make out with a Swallow, and that would prevent cancer.

You can try it out, It's great stir-fried in Sugar and Garlic.

Got the rice cooker. Can't get it apart.  There must be some sort of latching internally.

Midea

No way Tp4 would buy Zoji Japan, and if you buy Zoji China, why not Midea? Midea makes all the Toshiba cookers.

Cellphone cases have become so ugly, it's like, wth, what were they thinking, people buy these?
\
Also, these magnets on cellphones. Strong magnets attract hard metal dust, if you touch the thing all the time, it's essentially generating its own abrasive. can't be good for screens and the camera lens to be around the stuff.

I don't mind the one that I have for my google pixel, it's the offical one and it works fine (I like the colour a lot especially)

The only issue is that I really like the metallic colour of the phone itself and the case hides that, but that's the price you gotta pay for protection, a small one but still.

Google makes some nice cases for the Pixel. I had a denim one I really liked, that wore and scuffed like pants in my pocket making it look cooler the longer I had it.

I just get my cases off Etsy so I can customize and find exactly what I want. Currently on my Galaxy 23 I have one made by an artist from wood burl and acrylic.

Used to be I'd go for some expensive, bulkey, high defense case. Ottors and Rhinos and Armadillos and such. But I realized the margin of protection from a regular drop height (like a table) is pretty much going to be the same between a bulkey one and a slim one that fits nicely in your pocket. My phone isn't going under busses or wrestling gorillas, just need it to not break from a table-height fall. So slim cases do their job just as well as some 900lb kevlar and steel military-grade bomb shelter for my phone that feels like a brick in my pants.

I agree, having tried many options. I am careful with my phone and a couple of millimeters thickness is probably enough, especially when the corners are reinforced a bit more. I like a somewhat supple feel but if it gets too rubbery it makes pulling it out of a pocket way too awkward. My current one has a neon green trim line around the black body which makes it stand out and be differentiated from others.

Exact location:  A circle roughly 10sqr miles on a google maps screenshot.
