Need advice: what to ask for Christmas

So I am trying to decide what I should ask to get for Christmas. The two main things I am debating over:

-Leopold F660C (cuz I wanna try Topre)
-Upgraded processor for my rig (minimum of an i5)


The F660C I want, but the processor I really could use since I only have a dual-core Pentium in my box right now.

Need opinions plz!

My initial response was:

Ask for an i7! "Nothing succeeds like excess" - Oscar Wilde

BUT the Leopold will last you a lot longer than a CPU and it's more "tactile" (no pun intended, really) and more visible. Nicer for a gift than a CPU which is hidden away inside your PC. Will give you more warm fuzzies feeling the oneness with cup rubber and remembering the generosity and love of the giver.

BUT the Leopold will last you a lot longer than a CPU and it's more "tactile" (no pun intended, really) and more visible. Nicer for a gift than a CPU which is hidden away inside your PC. Depends on the version of the processor. i5 and i7 means nothing if you don't specify the processor itself. It's just marketing. If you want a good processor for the money, look at benchmarks. My i5 2500K was around 4% slower than a 100$ premium i7 2600K, so I got the i5 and didn't regret it one piece. More so since my cpu is idle most of the time on most of it's cores...

My i5 2500K is amazing, but already 2 years old. I suggest going to Tom's hardware and look fore the monthly "best cpu for X$" and you will probably find the best one for your $ at the moment. 2500K is outdated for sure, but there's probably an equivalent right now. Still, if you motherboard does not support new ones, then I don't know that is best! I usually change all my stuff at once so that everything is balanced and keep it for like 4 years

you wouldn't get a 2500k "at this point"  unless for $100-120.....  which will be rare... and the board will still prob run $120-150

So you're better off with a 4770...

So you're better off with a 4770...

2500k doesn't even fit in 1150 lol
