Just wanted to know, where is "Microsoft Windows"?

He use to be here about a few weeks ago but now ......nothing.  I suspect the admins here might of done a 'Ripster' annihilation-style of execution but the guy was only a rabid MS lover and nothing else.  Never offended me in any way so why the overwhelming neglect in mentioning what had happened, almost like some kind of secret conspiracy of complete silence..... :( .

I can understand some hating MS but why take it out on that poor guy, he didn't mean anything nasty?

And they open their eyes for just a sec, and realize they've got their right hand on a guy's junk, and their left-hand wrist deep in some other guy's ass,   while everyone is shouting thorpie, thorpie........

Then they proceed to close their eyes again, and chant thorpie to forget the insanity that's befallen them.

There's a reason why I like you TP  8) .

I will say this: as time goes by active communities grow thus expanding the borders of comfort. GH is no exception, and even more so since the rise of popularity towards mechanical boards has grown in recent years. Yet the internet offers few choices of niche forums to discuss and share on this subject. I don't think the sense of community is fleeting, but instead adapting to a myriad of situations. Imagine you've lived in a small close-knit town all your life, but suddenly new people start moving in and buildings start going up. It's upsetting, but nothing can survive indefinitely without adaptation and it's up to the older members with sway to at least try to guide everything in an amiable direction

I think the community aspect is difficult, as this hobby of ours is "quite" a solitary thing to begin with.. especially considering it stems from eletronics/ computer obsession, which is only a hobby taken up by Hermit type characters.

if i attach it to a condom great find think the mods will let it slide?

I hate it when people push their personal keyboard preferences on people when they ask for something else. You see this much too often.
For example, a poster creates a thread asking for a "good full-size keyboard with Cherry MX Blue switches" ... and he gets replies like "Get a Topre!" and "Buy an ErgoDox!". That's trolling, and moderators should keep repeat offenders on short leash.

I would like better mobile support.  I am using TapaTalk on the mobile, but there are things about it that I don't like.
You've earned a slap in the face for not using a proper keyboard to browse Geekhack. ;)

Well they banned tp a couple of times for his ergo rants

That never happened... I was at a hotel resort... relaxing...

Thorpie, Thorpie, Thorpie.

Not enough Thorpe threads is what I hate about geekhack.org

Maybe we should split off and become a 24/7/365 Thorpe forum?  thorpe-hack.org?

I can guarantee no tp4 at thorpe-hack.org.

that said, i never read any sections related to sales.
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

Outgoing personal messages?

They do, unless you uncheck the checkbox.

But, if you uncheck the checkbox, it stays unchecked.

If you check it again, it should remember and stay checked next time you send a PM.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

There is drama here but I think it livens the place up a bit. Admittedly, sometimes things can get a little out of hand. On the plus side, drama has insighted passionate responses on certain topics. It offers a unique insight from an individuals point of view.

It's like panning for gold -- you sift through dirt and muck but occasionally you hit the jackpot.

Also another technique for searching the site is to use google. For example, if you want to see the miami set, just google this :

miami set site:geekhack.org

Of course search notations can always be used as well like :

"filco" + "blank keys" site:geekhack.org

Normally the first example gets me most of what I'm looking for. I hope that helps someone  :thumb:

It's in your user account settings.

I've checked there and 'Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic.' is already unchecked, yet I still receive notifications via the 'Watched' section of the site.

Is there a specific setting elsewhere?

So you are not 'watching' a thread, but you get notifications just because you participated?  That does not happen for me.

Yeah it depends on the thread I suppose. I get frustrated seeing people who religiously bump their threads every 24 hours. Especially when it's a WTB thread.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

I prefer this (Attachment Link)

I can put that into emoticonverter..  where is that set of emoticons hosted.

I just copy that from a local forum, I dont know where the full set hosted but I know the name was Popo Emoticons

http://rokey.deviantart.com/art/POPO-emotions-full-version-10175719

I added them to emoticonverter...

They don't seem to be animated, but they're cute...
