Story is for chumps...
It all begins the same way... redirects via miscommunication... then end the same way to appease the player..
It's all the same.. once you've watched TNG enough times.. You're done with the entire sci-fi genre..
The rest is all Presentation... and by far FF13 had great presentation if not for the 30fps and 720p limit..
I guess someone who thinks watching a game and playing a game is the same thing would think that.
Let me clarify that..
I do not think playing and watching are IDENTICAL....
However, the ENDING and objectives to story driven games WILL be the same..
YOUR actions have no consequence, because they operate only within the established programming..
This is not an argument for whether one should (enjoy the process)..
I'm only pointing out that within the LIMITED construct of a GAME, it is pointless for me to put in the extra effort to achieve an outcome that I have NO actual influence upon..
Even if I made all the momentary decisions up until the ending.. IF they only programmed one ending.. I've done "extra" busy work for essentially what someone who's just watching me play would get..
This is different than, should you try something for real, in the real world.. because there is a CHANCE that the possibilities are not scripted... (we don't know for sure, but the odds are there)
However, in the story oriented video game world.. there is NO CHANCE the ending was not scripted..
Thus, I am not drawn to put so much clicking into it, which would only amount to delaying what will inevitably happen.
