I lost my keyboard for AvJaB.  :'(
He has proposed trade his skull and $20 to take my keyboard

But after I sent him my keyboard, he disappeared and today he creates a topic of selling my keyboard. : http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=53640.msg1199287#msg1199287

Sorry to hear that man, looks like he's locked his thread too.

Let this be a lesson to everyone, trades are very hard to protect yourself in and should only be carried out with someone who you trust 100%.

I'm not trying to cause problems or take sides, but from the evidence you have presented, it's not possible to see the actual outcome of your situation.

Perhaps AvJaB really was in the hospital, and ended up sending it slightly after those PMs.

Also it could have got lost in the mail. Did AvJaB present you with a receipt from the post office? It might be a good idea from now on to ask for one for confirmation. I always keep the receipts for the event that the buyer claims I did not send what was agreed on.

Good luck in your future transactions megaxpop. I hope all goes well and that if AvJaB really did scam you, that he does the right thing and returns your keyboard.

We should have a hall of shame for these kind of people so everyone can see and put more care in trading with them.

I do find it a little strange that AvJaB only mentions sending money with no mention of the Clack in his response to OP.

megaxpop do you have the PayPal receipt for the amount he sent you? That should clear up any inconsistencies.

His final post in the FS thread seems a bit suspect considering the PM's we've seen.

Megaxpop, does the tracking from your keyboard say he received it in under 2 months? If so, that would be suspicious.

It's easy to prove him wrong if that was the case.

Case summary (according to screenshot as well as posts)

-megaxpop wanted to sell a keyboard worth ~120$ shipped
-avjab offered to buy from megaxpop on 12/11/2013 with a skull keycap worth 100$ + 20$ shipped to UK
-megaxpop sent his keyboard to avjab on 15/11/2013 via Registered Air Mail with the tracking number RR762276512VN
-on 21/11/2013, megaxpop contacted avjab to check if avjab sent the skull keycap worth 100$ yet. Unfortunately, avjab responded that he was in hospital but avjab promised to send the keycap with better service
-according to the universal tracking, the package with AWB number RR762276512VN sent by megaxpop delivered to England on 26/11/2013 with the tracking information as follows
    2013-11-26 11:22, COLLECTED FROM26/11/13, AMESBURY PDO
2013-11-25 16:36, HELD AT ENQUIRY OFF, AMESBURY PDO
2013-11-23 13:31, RECEIVED IN UK, HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC
-megaxpop did not receive any further information from avjab after that
-on 18/01/2014, avjab posted a thread to sell a keyboard, apparently it is the one received from megaxpop
-megaxpop claimed he was scammed
-avjab responded that he paid the money but avjab never mentioned about the keycap worth 100$ in the message exchanged
-avjab claimed that the keyboard took 2 months to arrive but the tracking system from the most modern country in the world - UK - indicated the package was delivered on 26/11/2013

=> Well, I think we need to have explanation from avjab and I really hope both parties can come up with a peaceful win-win solution ;)

seems to be scammer's trend to fall sick or get into an accident or something happen to family members in the most inconvenient time for the buyer ;D
well of course, there are genuine cases where this scenario could happen, but i'm pretty sure genuine sellers/traders wouldn't keep his buyer/trader in the dark if **** happens.

then again, be extra careful when doing international trades.

wouldn't it be better if trade talks are done in the sales thread itself rather than PM-ing? since that opens up to more sneaky n shady method but if it's done in the open, ppl know what's going on.
only use PM when it comes to giving personal info?
just a thought...

I think you're all being very fast to judge, probably a logical reason tbh. I've met the guy and bought a keyboard from him myself. In fact my current Ducky was from him, he genuinely did have problems in hospital back then as I've known him in real life as well as online. Just saying.. might be fair to wait, also his point is valid, posting his public information on a public forum.. that's kinda low and shouldn't be done at all. Please at least blank out his private info (: if this was most other places you'd get in trouble for that as it's pretty bad. Seen it removed here as well before.

Basically, I had a WTB thread open where I was looking for a ISO Poker 2 keyboard, right. Then the guy PMs me and informs me that he has a Poker x for sale. I then tell him I've already found a Poker 2. He tells me to update my post, and after I've done that I tell him "Done. But your keyboard wasn't ISO nor a Poker 2 anyway.) And then he suddenly gets mad for some reason and says: "****ing hell, sorry for trying to help you" I don't understand why he got so upset, afterall he didn't even offer me a Poker 2, he offered me a Poker x with the wrong layout.

No, I think if you read carefully you can see that not all of us judges him or anything.
We can't judge him actually. Like I already said in my previous post: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=53700.msg1199392#msg1199392
Logically, if he can post a WTS thread, he should come here to have explanation.
If you know he in real life as well as what he claimed here "my friend Pexon pc's" http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=48023.msg1028083#msg1028083 you should ask him to come up with a peaceful solution to the OP.

You might know him in real life but it doesn't take a genius to realise he's pulling some ****. If the board really did take 2 months to arrive it would have arrived a week ago and not in November like the tracking indicates.

Illness or no, I refuse to believe anyone's memory is that bad.

^^ This....

Also....the guy bought the keyboard for $20 and a clack (which it appears he never sent) and he is selling it for $210 plus shipping?

I know there are always two sides etc but from the evidences given it looks like the guy is trying to pull a fast one, but either way if he has proof to the contrary he needs to share it.

Can we start a blacklist thread if there isn't one already?
List people's real names and addresses publicaly so that if your making a trade with someone who your not 100% sure with you have a list of known scammers to check it against?

As GH grows so does it's market place and I really do think that it should do something to try and combat this kind of thing from happening...

Hi my friend (Megaxpop),

i think that GH have great problem now, i was trade my Skull for skull with old member on GH (US member) and shipped to him since 2 months ago, but i'm not received my item from him since 2 months ago, i was pm him many time but he was not reply anymore. My friend (John Crouse) know him well and he tell me that he can help me if i need. But i think if he don't want to send me my item (Skull MX), you can't do nothing. I lose my Skull, it's not problem with me but i lose my trust to GH member, It's verity and you can referer from my friend (J. Crouse). I respect J.C, he is very good foreigne friend that i've ever seen.

P/S: Sorry about my bad English.

I think that GH has made a clear choice to be totally ignorant of all transactions that don't come from it's self in order to protect it's self from getting screwed by people putting blame in the wrong place (which I totally get). But I think with that move you have to do something, even something very small like a locked pinned topic in classified and GB's that has a list of people who have scammed users and those people's personal information (PayPal address/real name/real life address) so that users have some way of protecting them selfs without further growing and alienating the geekhack old boys club...

GH has a long memory, people don't generally come back after they've scammed someone. And posting people's info on GH is the last thing the mods would ever approve of, they'd be opening themselves up to all sorts of legal dramas.

What legal dramas?
I just think it's pretty irresponsible for GH to do literally nothing other than say... Yeah... We won't forget don't worry... And to have people just screwed with no recourse and just the tag line "only trade with people you trust 100%" ...nonsensical advice which helps no one lol

The systems you are describing are essentially heatware. I suggest everyone tries to encourage others to use it. Sure, if people are willing to give up old reputable GH accounts, they could do the same with their heatware accs but There really isn't much else to do imo.

One problem with heatware is it too can be abused, but the bigger problem is just getting people to use it for feedback.

GH has a long memory, people don't generally come back after they've scammed someone. And posting people's info on GH is the last thing the mods would ever approve of, they'd be opening themselves up to all sorts of legal dramas.

This is exactly why this should never be done. GH isn't a legal authority, and the second we start slapping names on a Googleable page of scammers, GH becomes open to libel suits.

****. I suspected he's not right when he outbidded a few of us in the auction where a guy who bang his hand on dumbells was auctioning his skulls and Gasmask. This AvJab guy outbid many by $1 which is fine. Maybe he was playing. But when he won, he disappeared and the Op of that thread had to give to second bidder. I thought AvJab wasn't honest and honorable.

Damn it! What a scum!!

Edit: this is the thread I was referring to http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=50983

On one side we have megaxpop, who has been completely open the whole time, posting pictures and messages. On the other side we have AvJaB, who immediately locked his sale thread and has yet to say a word in this thread - nevermind all of the other evidence that would seem to point against him.

I think it's pretty clear, unfortunately.

:)) . Him is scammer . :p

Sorry pointless comments like this need to be removed. You're not contributing anything here. I also respect the OP feels he's been scammed and if he has then fair I'll admit I was wrong about Jack, but you guys posting his real info is pretty ****ty.

Yes I respect that, but simply posting "him is scammer". It's not productive at all. It's also pretty bad to just judge, I respect the evidence looks pretty bad against him and even I have a tiny bit of doubt btu he's still a good friend of mine and I'll talk to him.
